A Group Buy is where 1 or more people organise a bulk purchase of an item, for example to secure a discount.

Group Buys need to be approved by the SXOC Trade Rep before being posted. Futhermore, you will not be able to start a group buy thread unless it has been authorised, a member of staff will start the thread for you.

The person organising the Group Buy will be responsible for running it (although the SXOC may be able to provide some help ). Ideally, this person should:

  • Be a member

  • Not make any money out of the Group Buy

  • State who will be supplying the product

  • Explain details of what is / isn't being supplied

  • Give fully inclusive prices (i.e. including postage, VAT, duty etc.)

  • Give the likely timescales involved

  • For their own protection, Group Buy organisers should collect all monies before placing an order; the SXOC recommend a deadline is set for payments to be received

  • In some instances they may be asked to provide a copy invoice to the SXOC Trade Rep

  • They should give SXOC members priority on the Group Buy. Agreement should be sought from the SXOC Trade Rep if the Group Buy is to be extended to non-members

These rules exist to protect SXOC members, whether they are buying from, or are organizing a Group Buy. The aim of the Group Buy should be to offer a deal or product to members, that would be otherwise unavailable. As long as that is the case, there's no reason these rules should cause any undue burden
