Im currently getting a custom 2 piece propshaft made up to replace the notchy ones its running at the mo.
I wanted to get them rebuilt, but Nissan annoyingly use staked u-joints so no prop shop will...
yup, real hard to pinpoint!
Ive had it on a lift a few times and driven through all the gears, the prop assembly seemed to spin extremely smooth at any rpm or gear.
Although i couldn’t get it to...
I have actually fitted a new standard nissan crank damper pulley, I was lead to believe these are balanced individually so as long as the pulley is balanced and the rubber is not perished it should...
Yup, I have always agreed with the logic, it is the main reason why I worked from the engine back and left the props till last as I just dont feel they are the cause of this rpm specific vibration....
I’ve tried the original clutch and fly setup and the vibrations are very much reduced, but as I said are still detectable if you listen for it.
Basically I’ve tried quite a few combinations...
In a way its comforting to know I’m not the only person that has been losing their hair over this issue! See mine to vibrates under decel, but also viciously vibrates under acceleration at low rpm,...
Hi Dean, did you get to the bottom of this?
There isnt really many options for cam position is there? the s14 360 cas wont fit so you have to track down a 20v cas iirc.
excuse my ignorance but why do you need cam position with this race...
Enzo, do you know what the purpose/function of the groove is on the 1st gear bush?......

Both the original and replacement item have this...
You can have the pair for £15 with cables, postage Im guessing would be no more than £12.
I rebuilt them a year ago to go with new discs and Yellow stuff pads only to remove them about 250 miles...
brakeparts.co.uk :)
I have a pair of rebuilt rear s14a calipers that I have now replaced with a z32 setup, there a pain to rebuild so maybe of some interest to you.
Manifold to turbo gasket? they can make every sound possible depending on the state they are in.
The service manual illustrates both counter gear bearings, and mainshaft bearing being tapped into place with a drift and hammer. I’m not too sure why as its really easy to press those in, certainly...
When you do remove the front cover to pop off the big snap ring, make sure to check for a shim that sits on top of the counter gear bearing. It’s not too obvious as they tend to stick to the inside...
To remove the bell housing/transmission case you will also need to remove the front cover along with the snap ring that slots into the mainshaft bearing.
I always find it easier to remove the...
The TRSBK133DWS kit is not suitable for any FS5W71C box that runs a double synchroniser arrangement (inner and outer bulk ring) on 2nd and 3rd.
This does contradict my earlier post, I need to...
make sure you apply a good amount of moly grease between fork and release sleeve and release sleeve and front cover collar
m24 i think just relates to the casting # on the compressor housing, it doesn't really mean much.
Garretts part no. should be stamped on a little tag which is riveted to the centre housing
yup, you just find a suitable chs tube with an inner dia of around 26mm and cut it down to use it as a drift then tap the bearing into place with a hammer, you have to do the same when installing the...
Ah cool,
I bought a master rebuild kit from the states (main bearings, syncros etc.) but unfortunately it didnt come with the 2nd and 3rd dual syncros.
Its looking like even on my spare box...
Like Enzo I used a regular puller and extended it with some all thread.
I used 2 300mm lengths of m10 all thread which I got from screw fix for a couple of quid.
...
The inner and outer baulk rings for 2nd and 3rd are a little fiddly to measure clearances, this is how I interpreted the correct method to measure the inners. Is this how you did it Enzo? I get a...
Your cooling fans play no part when your hurtling along at 70+ mph!
Good cooling fans only help stabilise temps when crawling in traffic on a hot day or static in the pits while waiting to go out...
We are talking 1.2-1.3kg/cm on an uprated cap. These are still designed to work on a standard coolant system with little or no additional stress added to the circuit.
Faulty caps cause their fair...
We run water injection on our track car, our intended use is purely for improved engine reliability and not for obtaining performance gains.
I’ve never been to keen on the idea of depending on a...
