    no no, you want air in them, drain all the oil out and then fit them in the head, they should all be soft before fitting. This way each lifter bleeds to the correct height of the valve.

    After draining the lifters dont fill them back with oil, leave them drained/soft they will then self bleed to the correct gap/height when the engine is running.
