Thanks for suggestions guys, off to get some easy start and a comp tester. Will keep you posted.....
I've got a problem with my '86 silvia S12. It won't f**kin start! Yes I know I've posted in the S13 section but as most S12's are now dead or have Ca18Det's in them I though I might get help here.

Hi,
I was going to change my oil filter today on my S12 ca18et, Can anyone help tell me what this is in the pic below?? It's under the oil filter and has a small pipe coming out of the middle of...
Anyone know why this doesn't work anymore ??
Cheers
Good find! I'll let you know how I get on :)
I know if they were made back in the day they prob arnt still made 20 years later, but I was just wondering what people are using now?. I.e. S13/s14 units

I can't afford a propper boost controller for a while. Will this work?? I have a boost guage to measure progress.
thanks ill get some tomorrow :)
no they're new plugs but just stock ones. what are colder plugs and where do i get em?? sorry for being stupid
so id need a boost controller to run more? is it right the stage 2 ecu is set up to run more boost?
Ive just fitted a t28 with t28 actuator to my ca18det, my question is how much boost hould i run? I hear people say stage 2 should be good for 260ish BHP but is that straight away or do i have to up...
Any updates on this?? I love s12's!
Yea I tested with full throttle.
If I'm honest, I did drop the ball with that one. The turbo and manifold was already off the car so I couldn't run the car to get it warm for the compression test. Doh!
Would the results be higher...
Is it strange how when dry, they are all very low?
Does this mean all piston rings have gone??
ok, so got turbo off for swapping with my T28 and tought it would hurt to do a compression test before going much further.
These are the results, testing from the front towards the back (no1 being...
Thanks for all your comments guys :) I put it all back together today, I used gasket sealant for the plenum to manifold and put my breathers back to stock.
So deep breath and turned the key..........
Not really , although I've only taken off the cold side to take the plenum off. I will check tomorrow though. I've never had much oil pressure when warm before so all this maybe highlighting...
So even though the elephants trunk to cam cover pipe has been removed and blocked this can still affect my blown turbo??
Ive blocked the hole in the elephants trunk that used to go to the cam cover, and I've blocked the small one just on top of that one. Are there any more??
I don't have any one way valves in there....
yea i will def check those pipes as i put it back together, i know a worn turbo seal causes smoke from exhaust but does yours smoke badly from the catch tank filter??
well i stripped it down again today and found this....

and also noticed that some of the loom connectors didnt have that little...
Yea turbo is old and is next on the list for replacement, if I get this sorted first lol
That's what Im thinking, think I'm going to take it all back off again tomorrow. Would the catch tank cause this on its own? Is it Plummed in right?
