Just replaced the CAS and Exhaust Cam. Both mint.

It's done this before though, I checked the belt after it changed like this, and it was still in the correct position. What could be loose?

Just did a 4 hour round trip in the car, it seemed fine for the first hour or so, then it started to break up under low Throttle, but if I gave it more throttle it was fine. Pulled over and checked...
Ah fair enough, the guy who skimmed it never mentioned anything about how much was taken off etc.
I lost count of how many times I checked the belt haha. I had spanners holding both cams exactly...
I've no idea tbh. Can that effect timing?

Yeah, from the front, it's the second from the right. I have a video, but it's difficult to see. I'll upload it anyway

It doesn't feel like it's slipping out of time now, but it still needs to be turned fully clockwise to sit at 15° :(

New CAS arrived today, looks mint!

God, I hope this works.

No worries haha. Hopefully this will fix the problem!

Change of plan, I've just bought it. If it doesn't fix the problem, I'll just sell it on :)

I don't know that it's definitely a broken CAS though, so that could be a wasted £35 :( the CAS I have looks perfectly fine

Tried the V test again today, I found the proper procedure in the FSM.. Still no lights at all. Ran it for about 10-15 minutes just to make sure, but nothing flashed. Also tried the III test again,...
I tried the V test, but I didn't see any lights. Do you need to drive about for it to throw codes?

Okay, I just checked the Ecu and got code 55. Which I believe means all clear haha. The car doesn't even know what's going on haha

Thanks man!
I really hope I figure this out soon, or someone will be buying this nightmare of a car very cheap, and I'll be losing a lot of money haha!

I couldn't figure out how to do the diagnostics test haha. I'll have a look at the manual now.

Anyone got any other ideas for this? Its still not staying in time, and I can't find anyone locally to try a different CAS. Is it possible that it could be something to do with the wiring/engine...
Shot in the dark, but any chance a bad engine earth could be causing these problems? My main engine earth wire is heavily deteriorated and sometimes doesn't start unless the wire is being held in a...
With the snap on, I tried both putting a HT lead between the plug and coil, and the wee loop. Both had the same outcome.
With the neon one, it just goes between the plug and coil. It's not...
Right this thing is making no sense. I was using one of the old neon orange timing lights before, and I had to turn the CAS fully clockwise to see 15° on the pulley. Now I've got a proper snap-on...
Cool, that's good to know. I'll check for codes tomorrow too :)
I posted in the Scotland section about trying someone else's CAS, but no reply yet

I didn't know the engine had to be at TDC when putting the CAS in? I just lined up the key thing inside and it went on the spline fine

I did hear about that, I think mine is a UK one, but either way, it sits at 0° in the middle position :(

With my one, it's basically just two wires and a light, one wire connects to the coil pack, and one connects to the spark plug itself.
