happens to me too often ,normally starts with putting something fragile 'in a safe spot' then we forget about it and so the fun begins when we suddenly need it

there are more than one version of the r8 tfsi coils one type is an upgrade (possibly stonger spark power? or better heat management?)
for tfsi cars with failing oe coils,the 1.8t coils are not...
you can get drill bits made for spot welds,search ebay poss best option
,and weld/fill the drilled holes is perfect and better/stronger than the spots you drilled out

in the boot there is a relay and a timer control silver box thingy for the wiper,iirc relay for the washer is in the engine bay fuse box/battery side

,I think it relates to how much was machined of the 'finger pads' and the machined cam lobe wipe...
check for cracks in the exhaust valves, if it has got very hot/near detonation previously the exhaust valves may have tiny hairline cracks
or the valve seats are scortched and very pitted/not...
