Really? I thought there is some rubber coating that gets ripped apart.
At least thats what I remember the old HKS gasket to be like?? But thats long ago, so maybe memory is a bit off.

Well it‘s a bit my own fault, but I took the engine to the builder last year and had so much to do at work that the engine got stored away for some time.
Now I found time/energy to install it, and...
Yeah, I think you mean SR20.
CA has got no rocker arms.
Changing shims under the springs won‘t change the length of the valve stem, would it?
Just change spring pressure.
BTW thanks for all...
I agree with you saying the builder should fix it. This would be the normal, sensible procedure.
But...
1, The rebuild was done 3/4 years ago and I just didn't find the time/energy to put the...
I‘m not sure about that, and considering the situation I‘d assume no.
He didn‘t know it was the 2nd rebuild, so maybe he didn‘t pay attention?
But since the engine is installed I guess it would...
The engine was rebuilt, so in theory valve seats should be ok, if the builder did a decent job.
Compression test was extremely low apart from one cylinder - that one was on 12,5 bar which is...
When the engine was apart everything looked quite tidy. I always used Castrol 10W60.
The thing is...
The engine was developing this over the years. Starting with low compression on one cylinder...
Hi
I‘m resurrecting my S13 (and this account ^^) and face weird problems related to lifters and open valves.
I have confirmed the valves are never completely shut by putting one cylinder on TDC...
Check your boot is sealed
Had the back lights out at some stage and didn't seal them in at once
Boy, was the cabin smelling back then. Got me a few headaches as well
Gauge and ECU use different sensors.
Have a look at the factory manual, ECU diagnostics is covered very well in there with which voltage should be under which circumstances etc.

Hi
You say you have already replaced ECU, so mayby this is not much help...
Are you using a european ECU or a japanese one?
Reason I ask is because some years ago I put a japanese OEM chip...
Use the diff off a S14 manual, this is what I did.
It now does around 110 km/h in 2nd and cruises 160 in 5th with about 4200 Rpm
Thank you for the answer.
Of course when modifying and setting up your vehicle you need to adapt tyre pressure accordingly.
But I don't understand why Nissan set it to 2 front, 2.2 rear on a...
Hi
...well... why?
I always assumed pressure and weight on the wheel correspond to each other. More weight - more pressure.
Been running 2.3 front 2.2 rear for ages with good handling.

Well, with H&R springs and Koni dampers the ride is bumpy anyway. Depends what you want the car for. Mine is used only for fun on sunny weekends.
I don't find the sidewalls that stiff. Not that...
Hi
Been out for a test drive today with my new tyres.
They are awesome, absolutely brilliant.
After the (very) old RE050 I had on the car with these it feels like glued to the ground. You...
I also got the Nismo Powerbrace and that is really built solid and you feel a difference
A rear strut brace also makes sense imho as the bar connecting the struts is straigth. Cusco do a rear...
Ah.. sorry my fault.
I didn't notice OP said 180sx, so he has an SR20DET... That car wasn't available here in Austria
SR20 MAF tops out 290HP afaik
If you plan to install bigger injectors also change the MAF!
No use in Injectors capable of 300HP and a sensor that tops out at 210...
Good advice
I run Z32 front and rear.
When i fitted the Z32 BMC together with the rear brakes it seemed to do 2 things:
1, more capacity in the BMC, so less pedal travel and firmer feel.
2,...
Oh.. And the chip was not standard of course...
I ran 1 bar (14 or 15 psi) for ages
Only other mods were cat back exhaust and high flow air filter.
During the time the car got some trashing, including 3 trackdays, and never missed a beat.
I would install a stock ECU mapping if I were you.
You're never gonna hit fuel cut at 0,4 bar on a T28, you'll struggle to make stock power.
These "Stage xx" chips often put stupid amounts of...
To add something useful myself I did some measuring on my car. The inner measurements are not easy to do - especially on the front. I used a pack of paper that just fits between the wheel and the...
It's a shame there are so few 8,5x17 wheels available. I'm pretty sure they would fit on the rear - maybe with ET40
I guess it's 8x17 then and I'll stay with the same size front and rear. At least...
