    Richie and Drifter,

Same oil for the both, the Silkolene Pro S 10w-50 is ideal for both your cars and the use they are getting. This is a true PAO/Ester synthetic.

    Tech specs here http://www.opieoils.co.uk/lubricants.htm

E-mail me for a price list.

    Cheers

Thanks Guy Car is currently using Vauxhall semi synthetic 10w-40, presume this won't clash with the good stuff. Also will this help to quieten the dreaded vvt rattles, mine is quite loud

Yep it will quieten down the rattles. This oil is in a different league compared the Vauxhall semi you have at the moment, you will notice a difference with it.

Car does approx 5000 miles per year. (i.e. usually changed twice per year)
Only usually used for short journies and fast road use. (i.e. not used as track vehicle - although considering in the future)
    Producing approx 300bhp
Currently using Mobil Supersyn 0W-40 Fully Synthetic.
Your comments and recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
    FOUND IT!!

For your car I would personally go for the Silkolene Pro S 10w-50 for protection when hot. The Mobil 1 your are using is of good quality a true PAO synthetic, maybe a little thin though, how do you find it? If you are happy with it then stick with it.

    Cheers

It is ok, cheap and cheerful is the best way to describe it, there is a reason it is cheap

As far as we can tell it is a hydrocracked mineral oil and not a true synthetic, if it was a true synthetic ie no petrolium base stock it would not be cheap.

    Cheers

    Hi guys

Wondered if you'd had experience of people requesting oil for Civic Type R's - honda recommend Magnatec which I've always considered to be a bit

    Any thoughts?

Guy, Do you recommend flushing the old oil out of a car with the nice expensive synthetic, or can you flush with cheaper mineral oil, then fill with synth?

    Simon/Guy

Here is the spec of the oil i use

    Apparent viscosity, (mPa.s)
    5600 at -30 °C
    3100 at -25 °C

    Kinematic viscosity (mm²/s)
    15.2 at 100 °C
    97.3 at 40 °C

    Flash point (COC) 236°C
    Pour point -56°C
    Density at 15 °C 0.85kg/l
    Sulphated ash 1.1 %w
    Total base number 8.8 mgKOH/g
    NOACK volatility 6.4 %wt
    Pumpability at -35 °C 15000 mPa.s
    HTHS at 150 °C 4.1 mPa.s
    Viscosity index 165

How does this compare to Silkolene? how do you rate the above specs?
