    Interesting even for me!

The database lists 10w-40 or 5w-40 as the correct grades.

Quality, there is nothing specified but the 10w-40 is likely to be semi and the 5w-40 is fully.

If the engine is in good nick, I would go for the 5w-40 as the better quality option, it will also take heat better than a semi.

    Cheers

Is that in both the NA and turbocharged engines?

It is but you could use the 10w-40 semi in the N/A more easily as there will be less heat without the turbo.

    Hi
as many here I drive a:

    Make: Nissan
    Model: 200sx S14a
    Year: 11/1999
    Engine Size: 1998cc
    Engine Type: SR20DET (turbo)
Any Mods: minor ones - circa 220bhp

I drive mainly on short, city routs but tend to give it loads of throttle action (not always though) I was thinking about something from the Motul range (300V ????) but I'm open to suggestions.
I also get a slight oil leak (as the majority of SR20DET here) so maybe something a little bit thicker??? Anywayz engine safety is my top priority and I think Mobil 1 5w50 (which I'm using now) may not be the best solution.
Would be very grateful if You could recommend some proper oil to keep my engine safe and comfy. And one more thing - would I need to change the oil type if I went from 220bhp to near 300bhp??

    Cheers!!
    Adam

ps. I live in Poland so maybe i should change the oil specs from winter (quite cold) to summer(quite hot)??

    Adam,

At this stage, use a decent 5w-40 synthetic like Silkolene Pro S 5w-40 or Motul 8100 5w-40.

If you mod further and decide to go on track then the Silkolene Pro S 10w-50 would be a better choice.

    Cheers

    Which oil?

    Hi Oilman

Can you tell me what the best grade of oil for my motor will be for the use i do.

    Make: Nissan
    Model: 200sx S14a Auto
    Year: 1997
    Engine Size: 1998cc
    Engine Type: SR20DET (turbo)
    Any Mods: Standard
    Milage: 69K

Previously seviced by Nissan, probs get own local trusted mechanic to do it.

Used to drive to work and back, 34 miles round trip. Some weekend milage, do not thrash but do enjoy the odd pedal to the metal

Can you give the latest price to deliver+p&p?

Will one can be ok for oil change?

    cheers in advance

    Dibs

Hi for your S14, looking at the use we would suggest a 5w-40 full synthetic for all year round use.

    A top one being the Silkolene Pro S 1 x 5ltr @ £41.99 delivered.

    Cheers

    Suitable gearbox oil?

I've just started to get gearbox whine and have had it suggested that trying a decent oil may help. To be honest i think the box will need rebuilding but as the car is putting out approx 300bhp now i think i'd better invest in an oil that can withstand the extra work its now having to do. Any suggestions on a suitable gearbox oil for me, car is used on road, most of the time in normal driving conditions but occasionally when i have a mad moment (like the other night when i caused the whine to start by having some fun with a superbike) it gets used pretty hard. Any advice appreciated

Look at either the Silkolene Syn5 75w-90 or the Motul Gear300 75w-90.

    Ideal for hard worked gearboxes.

    Cheers

    Hi,

What oil would you recommend for a Eunos Roadster NA8C 1994 1.8, circa 50k miles.

Mostly for communting. Also need oil for track days at Spa and a trip to the Nurburgring.

Also which oil would you reccomend for the gearbox?

    Thanks,
    Paul

5w-40 full synthetic for the engine, Pro S would be a good choice as its ideal for track use.

    Gearbox, Silolene Syn5 75w-90.

    Prices here http://www.opieoils.co.uk

So I've been doing some research for my next oil change. Silkolene Pro S 10w50 looks like a good recommended brand the only thing is on further reading I'm not sure if it will be the right choice for my type of driving. Mostly I'm running around doing 1-5 mile kinda driving. Quite short distances and it usually doesnt take me more than 10-20 mins to get where I'm going, but on occassion I'll be out for some longer drives on the motorway or put my foot down for some fun. I was thinkin about maybe the 5w50 to give it something on the cold starts.

Could anyone recommend me something. I'm really confused.

92 200sx CA18DET - no mods except for a huge backbox the previous owner stuck on it.

I'm scared of going too thick or too thin.

    Hi Guys,

Which oil do you recommend for a 92 Nissan Skyline GTSt - RB20DET 2litre turbo?

The car will not be a regular drive but will be used on the odd weekend and will be used for drifting - so there will be a lot of high rev work.

It will always be warmed up and cooled down before/after being used.

    Thanks,

    Steve

I would go for the Silkolene Pro S 5w-40, it will be more suited

    Hi fella,

    Just a quicky!!!

Recently installed a largish intercooler and since then the oil temp is alot warmer! Prob due to the restriction of air to the radiator, and therfore meaning the engine is running a bit hotter!

The oil temp guage is showing about 80'c and anything up to 100'c when giving it some welly!

Car is regularly serviced every 3k mile using your Silkoline pro s fully synthetic 10w50!

Just wondering what temperatures this particular oil will withstand until it loses it's protective value?

    Many thanks in advance

    Regards

    Adam

    Recommendation please

    Make: Nissan
    Model: 200SX (14a)
    Year: 98
    Engine Size: 2L
    Engine Type: Turbo
    Any Mods: None
Type of driving: Daily commute, occasional fast road

I'm guessing the engine oil would be Silkolene Pro S 5W-40, but what about the gearbox?

    Thanks.
