    Hi there,

I just bought an S14a which has a Nissan Service history and its been filled with 10w40 (shown on the service reciept). I don't know if they used synthetic oil however.

Is it worth it now to change over to a good fully synthetic 5w40 or should I keep the same grade. The engine is stock and runs well with no knocks etc.

    Cheers

As it is in there you might as well leave it there till next oil change, then you can choose what you want and start from a clean slate.

    Hi,

Any idea what I should be putting in my bmw e34 540 - 4L v8 (M60), heading over to the ring and want to change oil first - it takes 7.5 litres of oil by the looks of it

Also any idea about the gearbox oil, want to change that too - It's a getrag 6 speed S6S 560G if that means anything to you.

    Dunc.

Thought you'd say that What about the gearbox bud?

Here's the engine oil recommendations from the manual btw -

-20° to +30° seems most sensible but this suggests a much thicker oil.

    Hi oilman

Ive just bought a 1995 200sx fairly modified running approximately 310bhp with the sr20det engine. I use it for short journeys quite regularly but will also be driven hard when warmed. I was thinking of going for 5w 50 but dont really know what brand or anything. Ive just bought halfords fully synthetic motorsport oil before but i dont think oil specification was as important.

Thanks in advance for any advice

    George

    George,

Unless you are planning to track the car on a regular basis then I would go with a good ester based 5w-40 synthetic, any one of thesehttp://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-966-competition-race-engine-oils.aspx

Cheers guy, I was looking at this (http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-60122-gu...-oil-5w40.aspx) do you think that is suitable?

The other option was the silkolene pro s 5w 40. Whats the delivery time on those? If i ordered it now is it likely to be here by the morning?

Yep the gulf is very good and ideal, good price too!

If you ordered now it will be with you for Tuesday next week. We dont do weekend deliveries as they cost a fortune and the courier never actually seems to do it.

    Cheers

For the gearbox a 75w-90, lots of choice, Silkolene Syn5, Motul Gear300, redline Lightweight shock etc here http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-673-75w-90.aspx

Hi, I want to change my Gearbox and Dif oil In a 200sx s14a Year 2000 120k miles sr20det, cat back exhaust and soon FMIC, induction kit, boost control (13psi, ish), decat and stage 1a chip. Country road blasts and will be doing more and more track/ drift. Now here's my odd request, another dude used the thickist diff oil (for a truck) he could find and found it to be very effective for drifting his bmw E30, so i want to do the same. I will probably get a proper diff in about a year so and am willing to try it. What do you think? And which oils shall I buy? I dont mind paying extra for the better quality oil.

There is nothing to gain from going for a truck diff oil, I would go with a decent competition LSD oil such as this one here http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-773-silk...ntial-oil.aspx It will take everything you can throw at it.

For teh gearbox, loads of choice. 75w-90 synthetic such as the Silkolene Syn5, Motul Gear300, Redline Lightweight shock etc here http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-673-75w-90.aspx

    Cheers
