    ntl broadband

if anyone is on ntl broadband check out the ntl home page, they are doing upgrades to newer services.

i was paying £25 for 750k broadband with unlimited downloads.

    they are now offering

£17.99 - 1 meg broadband, 3 gig per month limit
£24.99 - 2 meg broadband, 1 gig per day limit
£34.99 - 3 meg broadband, not sure of limit.

i am now on the 2 meg broadband, dont think i'll go over the 1 gig per day limit on that! and its the same price as what i was paying for 750k broadband

It might be cheap, but NTL really do suck.

My NTL has only gone wrong once, their DNS servers went wrong for an evening. Wasn't an issue as I just pointed at some others.

I get good bandwidth (probably due to living somewhere that has no idea of what electrickery is let alone broadband) and it works all the time.

That said NTL aren't the best for lots of things. Don't even consider their TV packages.

You would think so though considering the time it takes for them to get it working again!!!

NTL aren't so cheap anymore...for convenience (and the free upgrade , although its just bringing them in line with competition ) I've stayed with them. Having said that, I've had very little problems. A few hours without internet over 3 years ain't bad. Mail servers go down occasionally.

this is the plan i'm on, yet i managed to download over 5Gb in the last 24 hours, so unless they plan to charge me (won't be happy, as they upgraded me, i'd rather have stayed uncapped) there isn't a cap

AFAIK ntl have always had a 1Gb per day fair usage policy in their terms and conditions. I remember reading that you can exceed the 1gb limit, but if they find you've done so repeatedly they'll get in contact with you to discuss it or something.
