    Here we go, Z32 gearbox

Picked up a bargain Z32 gearbox yesterday (if you are reading this Simon, top man )

Anyhow paid £200 for it and it came with a reciept for a re-build not long ago costing £600. He is moving house today so needed to get rid yesterday.

I have a spare SR20 and gearbox in the shed so will be playing with them this Saturday. I am planning to explore as many options as possible rather than just copy the Mazworx kit. I will update this thread as I go along

Whats the benefit in the Z32 box? Is it 6 speed or something?

The std S14 box starts to get upset after 300bhp or so. Get nearer 400bhp and it will fly to bits

The Z32 box has been known to withstand over 600bhp

An adapter plate needs to be made to fit to the engine. The front of the bellhousing then need to be machined. The prop needs altering as well.

Sounds easy but getting it all right is where the fun starts.

I will try my best but cant guarentee anything hehe

Mazworx car has been dynoed recently at 1000whp so the Z32 is a good little box.

As said above an adaptor plate is needed, but that is simple with the right contacts I've got a shortshifter from ebay on the way so I can get the shifter bracket sorted. Will have a better idea after the weekend

I reckon even 6 weeks is pushing it before you can even start trying things for real, rather than on paper ....

    Can't remember off hand.

IIRC mine sat at just under 3k at 95 leptons.

on the 155 limiter with about 1200rpm to go though

Rumour has it that the standard ECU has a 155mph speed limiter.

I am not that good I have got several bits drawn up on screen, the shifter bracket is being made as we speak. I have the SR bell housing/block outline and holes on screen and should have the VG on screen by tomorrow. It is very tedious getting it all lined up

I will post pics when I know they are right
