No rush Dan, no need to have that engine in there for the winter, no point having the power if its not going to put it down to the tarmac

Went to pickup an S15 torsen LSD today.

You can see the helical turny things:

Erm... Just need to find another diff to fit into to and get to work on adapting some shafts. Easier said then done though

Will be proper cool to get that in there, can't wait.

Nah not yet. Unfortunately yesterday my exhaust on the Xantia broke, so will be using the datsun until next weekend when I can fix the daily.

If I'm not being lazy it will be on next weekend. Lazyness is a problem with me sometimes. Cheers for the turbo anyway mate

had a good read through your thread, loving the dat. i just got hold of a saloon version of the 910 and im looking to use my spare ca in it, as the standard lump blew up. how did you sort the prop problem in the end? did you shorten the s13 one?

its a selection of bits of s12/s13/910 prop and a spacer IIRC. I still think a nice one piece is the way to go though

Initially it was a shortened 910 one, but after changing the angle of the engine I could use a full length one. Bit of a fluke really

Probably be a UJ if anything breaks. Its actually the same thickness as the mk1 S12 prop

Never heard of one going, though some people seem to have suspect center bearings recently. Not something I've encountered though

You will need to modify an s13 cross member to fit to the car and to take the arms and the correct width. You can then use the 910 gearbox cross member on the box and it will be close to being a good fit. I did it differently but it won't be too hard to fit. It might even align better than mine did

Found this pic from a car mag from over 20 years ago. It raced the BTCC in '84 and '85 by Graham Goode

Well it broke down for the first time tonight

Unfortunately at 1am. As some may know I like to drive late at night to get some peace and quiet.

At the start of my journey I felt the car have a minor misfire at full load at around 1.5Krpm and pull out of it as the boost came in, so put it down to just being a crap old CA with gummed up plugs or something.

Later the missfire was awful so it meant I had no option but to pull over, it was then I noticed the dash lights were dim so instantly realised the alternator packed up. But, the stupid tosser battery light never came on to warn me

Anyway, had to wait for an hour and half and my old man came down with my tools and his fat corvette battery to sort me out. Whats odd is the battery light goes out when I start the engine but checked the voltage with a multimeter and its getting no charge at all.

Seems a bit strange to me.

How do these alternators work then
