Cool Is this the new 200SX?

    BMW 1-series coupe

OK, it's no looker, but check out the spec: small, subtley styled, 2+2, RWD, good driving dynamics, 300bhp twin turbo.

No mention of weight, so like all modern cars it will probably be a bit of a whale - but on paper it sounds very close in spirit to the 200SX.

I want one, and I can't say that about any other BMW built in the last 20 years.

    What do you all think?

It seems ok but itll be too expensive, hold its value too well, be an absolute whale of lard and there wont be much after market stuff for it and the tuning stuff the german companys turn out costs about 50 times that of teh jap cars, RUF or alpine tune anyone?

No bmw outside of a M series is allowed a Limited slip diff, electronics are used instead.

Hence its not going to be the next SX...

A guy at work has just got a 335 twin turbo coupe, looks nice in metallic black.

It's obviously itching to be upped to 5-600bhp though.

I like the lickle 1 up there, but there's a lot of cars I'd spend that sort of money on though.

BMW coupes are 2 door saloons. It's easy to spot you have been had when you park next to a proper coupe and it's 4" lower.

    BMW 135 coupe 55.4" high
    200SX 50.8"
    New 911 51.8"
    350Z 51.8"
Other than doing a Norris Evo job on it or taking springs off and running on the bump stops like BX on low setting there is no way to get the roof down the correct height for a sports coupe.

Want to try getting a 50 gallon loft tank in there? BMW have never made a hatchback 2+2 coupe so it's not going to replace a S13, unless you are real handy with cutting disc and welder and can turn back window/boot into a tailgate.

All in all it needs a far too much work to compete with a S13.

Probably 2009 by the time it arrives here, despite the advanced look of that prototype. Arriving first will be a mid sized rwd saloon, which may be seen for the second time at Frankfurt next month, the coupe that shares the same platform will follow.

Hyundai have a couple of other products that will arrive before either of the above though.
