Not really, may ecus can do it although there is the proper way and the "other" way.

Where things get expensive is that on an agressive setting they will eat turbos and blow up exhausts.

There has been a lot posted on the forum in the past

Gary@APT runs "proper" ALS on his Evo.

Like Damo I have the VEMS which has a type of ALS built into the ECU, mainly its lacking a way to hold the throttle open.

Using the launch control on the bee-r is near on the same thing anyway isnt it?

But proper als it does sound the nuts but you cant have any cats in your exhaust system.

    ALS is amazing

    Destroys exhausts and turbos though.

im sure if its all setup right you can have the throttle held open but then i have not looked into it that much.

if you set up the L/C and then say hold the revs at 5000rpm the turn it on and then you put the foot down it will hold it there by sparke cut/taking time out and works like als as you start to see boost at that point

itīs not you who should hold the throttle open like with a launch control. you need some kind of bypass-valve to add air when the throttle is shut and the als is supposed to keep boost up.

The evo's come stock with proper ALS though !

You just need to unlock it with the ECUTEK software then map it accordingly

I was not aware that anyone had cracked it 100% yet though.

Or has he gone to the expense of fitting after market ECU instead of unlocking the stock ECU ?

Is this the same banging and popping noise you hear on serious drag cars just before they launch?
