Powder coating or painting Rocker cover????????

Hi guys putting my engine back together, and cant decide whether to paint rocker cover or have it powder coated?. powder coating can look a bit orange peely sometimes but is harder wearing, painting then laquering will give a better finish but not as durable. Anyone got any pics of theirs?

I wouldn't have it powder coated or blasted as iv heard horror stories of the beads finding there way into every little crevice
    And wrecking engines

Ive already stripped it back to bare metal using nitromors so wont need blasting. powder coating should'nt cause any problems.

Bahis im liking the crinkle finish! was thinking of doing that but in red like ferrari do on their engines. Did'nt like the sound of the blasting totaling my freshly rebuilt engine! thats why i stripped it myself. Im prob gona end up painting it.

He should have cleaned it himself....

I had to modify the rocker cover to fit rocker arm stoppers so it needed a proper clean up anyway...

Strip the cover to its bare essentials and mask the bits you don't want powder-coated and it will be all good.

Not doing so is the equivalent of leaving your windows down to go through a car wash then complaining about the car wash getting your interior wet.

If you leave the oil cap on, it will be hard to unscrew afterwards

I've just bought a new rocker cover for mine and i'm going to send it off for shot blasting and Powdercoating! I'm just going to give it a really good clean and look over before putting it back on

@Bahis, your rocker cover looks great!! Where did you get your Spark plug cover from as i've been looking for one just like yours but cant find one!

Bahis, what paint did you use? I really like that look and may have to try and copy it at some point (as long as you don't mind me doing that)

I used VHT Wrinkle Plus paint. I was very impressed by how well it turned out...

    - Amazon sells it -

Spark plug cover is TiTek one and I got it from FRSport.

The media etc can get caught in the compartments inside the cover which really aren't easy to get clean and aren't removable. I still say paint it, if its done well its pretty much as good anyway.

Fair enough. I thought the baffles were removable as they are on a CA.
