Jez, got an interesting question for you.
I have a (well taped up and non-leaking) bren device, and had it setup to 1 bar, that would then tail off to 0.9 by the redline, giving me 260hp (dynoed). I then creeped it up a bit, to about 1.1 bar, dropping to 1.0 bar at the redline. It felt quicker, lets say 270hp.
My question is, i'm interested in 1a (i already have a 1 chip off you), however i wont be purchasing an electronic boost controller. I can easily turn it to 1.2bar, and it will tail off to 1.1(ish) by the redline (it was doing this the other week with the cold air until i turned it back a notch) - it holds well for a manual controller - BUT will that be pushing the injectors too far? As its a manual controller on a stock actuator, i cant 'tell it' to go from 1.2 bar to 1.0 bar, if you get what i mean - will the injectors be going overkill at 1.1 bar at the redline?
This, for me, would be cheaper than going to stage 2, and if i could get 285hp safely, i'd be happy
what do you reckon?
