S14/S14a stage 2a ECU upgrade is now available

The stage 2a ECU upgrade is finished
First of all: big thanks to Tony for coming down to help us produce the new map. Much appreciated

Tony's car had the following modifications:
    Apexi air filter
    Blocked dump valve
    Uprated fuel pump
    Profec B boost controller
    Type 1 FMIC
    Turbo back exhaust
    Standard AFM
    Nismo 555cc injectors
    H-Dev manifold
    Uprated actuator

Tony had all the parts fitted before he came over so all we needed to do was to map the car. I rigged the car up with my mapping gear: Wideband lambda sensor, knock detection equipment and my ECU remapping hardware. I initially mapped the car on the road, to get it pretty close to what we wanted. When this was done we went along to Surrey Rolling Road.

Here are the final results. We managed 300bhp and 305ft.lbs of torque at 1.3 bar peak dropping to 1.1 bar (this was the most we could manage). Lag is also reduced - we get 150bhp at 3500rpm compared to 125bhp with the standard manifold / stage 1a setup.

    Power and boost pressure:

    Power and AFR:

    Power and torque (flywheel):

    Power and torque (wheels):

The ECU upgrade is on special offer for a limited time, see here: http://www.h-dev.co.uk/index.php?cPath=42_47

    That looks impressive.

I take it a tubular manifold is essential?

    Cheers,
    Ben

EDIT: how much would it cost if i traded in my stage 1 chip and upgraded to this one?

just to add to this my car feels like it has another jump in power compared to stage 2 map - just keeps pulling and pulling and you can feel it all happening much quicker. even fitting the manifold before the map i could feel the turbo coming in a bit quicker - but the map made all the difference

although my car was 287 bhp at stage 2 - this upgrade is more than just an extra 13 bhp - feels like another monster step - very scary in this weather

I've not tested it, so can't say for sure - it might be ok.

The standard auto/manual maps are different. The also run different code to operate the auto box etc. Our ECU upgrades run the same maps on auto and manual but use different code.

Is 1.3bar not a bit much for the standard tubby at all Jez? Or can it take this kind of pressure for small amounts of time?

Would be interesting to see what you can push a 28r to as mine has the same characteristics of hitting 1.2bar and then dropping off to 1.05.

Any boost increase is going to wear things out quicker. 1.3 bar is still well on the compressor map supplied by Garrett so it can't be that bad

I know you already do the Stage 3a chip for the GT2781R turbo but are you thinking about revising the old Stage 3 chip that runs with the GT28RS turbo at any stage?

No - the GT28RS isn't as good as the GT2871 IMO, so we always recommend that people for the 2871 over the 28rs.

The stage 2a sounds good, just a bit worried about pushing my standard T28 to 1.3BAR =/ But then if you say its within the compressor map of the turbo then surely it should be up to the job!?!?
Would i also need an uprated actuator to be able to handle this boost? I've also got an apex type 2 mani and type 2 intercooler and have 555s yet to be fitted!... oh and need an EBC which has been on my shopping list for a while now

    Cheers

    Ben

1.3 bar is on the Garrett compressor map, but running that boost will shorten the turbos life - the same as any performance modification.

An uprated actuator would be a good idea, and an EBC is essential.
