Before taking the car off the road for the winter. Steve suggested doing a compression test and leak down test so we did that last night.
Compression test was done and had 140psi on all four cylinders. Pretty good.
Then onto the leak down test.
Setting No1 to top dead centre on the compression stroke.
Cylinder 1 was all good with only a 3% drop which is good.
Cylinder 2 was even better with a 2% drop.
Cylinder 3 yet again very good with a 2% drop.
and lastly, cylinder 4 gave a 2% drop as well.
So that's not bad for an engine with 135,000 miles on the clock. Won't be stripping the engine down anytime soon.
Whilst the car went up on the ramp, we looked at the manifold and spotted the crack. Can't wait to get the replacement.
Next up is to try a coil pack loom and an ignition amplifier to try and cure the miss fire on idle.
