I've not had much luck with the car this winter at all to be honest. It's annoying me more than anything at the moment.

I might have to bite the bullet and get the spitfires. It's just money I don't want to be spending out .

Spend £400 once or £50 20 times in second hand coilpacks - simple choice imho

If you did decide to go the standard coilpack route again, look for coilpacks with a lighter top... Eoin at Garage-D told me they usually have a bit more life left in them when one of mine died... True enough I havent had an issue. Maybe it means its just a newer coilpack that hasnt had as long to degrade...

Up to you really but it seems a few people on here have standard ones and they cope just fine.... Id see it as £400 is a decent chunk towards something more exciting....

I'd check it's not something else at this point... Some sort of health check on the rest of the engine

    When does it misfire?
When did you last change the plugs? What do the current ones look like?
Have you ever done a compression test? (well i think you did - you used mine)

We put in the coilpacks from AndrewS's S14 and the problem went straight away so it must be the coilpacks as that's the only thing that was changed.

I did a compression test a while ago now and it was fine. Might be worth another one just in case though as they don't take long.

Haven't looked at the plugs as the packs were the problem. I have a set of plugs ready to go in when they are needed though (just need to gap them).

earths? amp? etc gotta be a reason you keep killing coilpacks.

if the money is an issue convert to a wasted spark setup with a new msd ford coil from the states (mega spark powerz) for a lot lot less.

don carter has converted his iirc but with an oem coil from something.

This last set weren't confirmed as being decent. With the bad weather we had I've been on low boost and hardly gone on full throttle.

It happens between 2000-3000rpm on full throttle.
