If you push it up the way from the nylon bit into the housing if you know what i mean

Yea that was fine but last night whilst it was rattling i took the gearknob off whilst driving as it unscrews and the rattling stopped. All this time it has been my gearknob with the shortshifter

so won;t be needing the shifter after all. Thankyou though, sorry to mess you about

I'm not too sure what you mean about it being spring loaded? There is a spring in it so that it sits in the middle if thats what you mean
