    I miss mine!

Had a Raleigh Mustang mk1 in black and red

Then a Raleigh Lizard so 90s it hurt!

Followed by a Raleigh max 1996.. Dam i was cool

Was always jealous of my mate of mine who had a muddy fox.

Another mate had an Apollo. his parents didnt love him.

I had a Raleigh Chipper, a Raleigh Chopper, A Raleigh Superburner, a Raleigh Arena, a Raleigh mountain bike of some description, which was white and red, and now I have an Emmelle mountain bike. Not a stunning selection, it has to be said

I genuinely miss that bike, used to go everywhere on it, and probably had my best best cycling moments on it. I.e. biggest jump, longest wheelie, furthest endo, etc.

I'd have it back in a heart beat, I've got a GT Zaskar now but I've gone and buggered up the steering geometry by putting the wrong forks on it. Its just not the same

Raleigh RSW11. 5th birthday. Stabilisers came off within three days. Bike was impaled on the railings of the big house at the bottom of the sloped road within the week

    Raleigh Strika.

Mine was green, with the back pedal brake. Left curvy black lines along the road and wore tyres out in hours.
Was damn heavy and when everyone else got BMXs I couldn't keep up

So i never did the BMX thing and got a 5speed drop handled Heidemann. £80 new and I had to pay half of that
But like my S14 now, I had it for years, did massive mileage on it and just replaced bits as and when they wore out. Did bottom bracket, all the bearings, half a dozen chains, mangled a few derailleurs riding the quarries at Flappits near Bradford (easily keeping up with the BMX mob and oddly never buckling a wheel).

Took myself at age12 up to granny's house in Teesdale without telling anyone. 80miles, including 40 of those on the A1 but got there and back in the day. Bit dodgy really with hindsight, but didn't get killed.

School trip had me and a dozen others plus teacher riding over the Yorkshire Dales. When one of the 'big kids' bikes broke and his little flat bike spanner wouldn't fix it, I offered to help. Teacher's face was a peach when he found about 20kg of my dad's cast iron tools in my panniers.
I didn't understand about weight in those days

    The bike was a trooper

Dad ran over my Strika, then got me a Grifter and I'd cycle with a pal who also had one. We'd play 'CHiPs' . Bike lasted me until I was 14 .

Best bike of my yoof was a second-hand Peugeot 10-speed racer, looked a lot like this:

Loved that bike, it was fast as fook and I used to enjoy racing mopeds on it (when I had a good run-up and tailwind...). I rode it into the ground. Eventually took it with me to uni where it got stolen, but to be honest it was completely knackered by then. I didn't really understand about maintenance, lol.
