We've been working on an SR powered Westfield recently and thought people might be interested in the work we've done so far.
This is how it was delivered to us:
Some of the structural parts of the chassis had been hacked out so we had re engineer these parts:
The inside of the car wasn't much better:
Some of the suspension arms were bents:
We had to strip the whole car down, clean everything, sand back the chassis to metal and respray.
We then made new engine mounts:
The original engine was scrap, so we built another one:
Fitted it:
Got the intercooler and rad mounted:
Made up the pipe work. Just hope the radiator is big enough to keep it all cool, especially with the IC in front. You can just about make out that we've fitted an Accusump to help prevent oil starvation. We suffered oil feed problem with my S13 on fast corners - this car should be similar power to weight so we wanted to minimise the chance of it happening here.
We're about to finish off the brake pipe work as this was also unusable. My next job will be to make up the dash board - we're ditching the original and going with a carbon dash board, digi dash and some nice push button switches - similar to this:
The amount of time spent on this project has been immense - mainly because everything needed re-doing. Should be great when its done though.
I'll update with more pics as we go
