    Tesco 99 momentum FTW

Anyone else use this instead of Shells stuff?

Only got 2 stores in Cornwall that sell it, luckily one just down the road. The best bit is (unlike Shell), they don't seem to adjust their momentum price much at all.

3 or 4 weeks ago normal was 132.9, momentum 137.9, which is about right for a premium fuel. Normal then increased slowly to 135.9, momentum stayed at 137.9, then I went back a few days ago, normal was back to 132.9, but momentum had actually dropped too, to 134.9 I then handed over my 5p-off a litre voucher = 129.9 for 99ron - win - Shell, at this time, were charging 142.9 for V-Power..

So, keep an eye on the momentum, it seems to be one step ahead of shell at the mo

I can't believe 1.29 is considered cheap for fuel nowadays, I found a petrol staition that was 1.29 for normal and was well chuffed and then I though about it and it's ridiculous how much fuel is now

I created a crude spreadsheet at work to calculate my savings if I switched from the current daily (thirsty petrol) to a newer diesel. That was 18 months ago and the fuel prices then were, IIRC, under 110p per litre for diesel .

BOT, Tesco 99 stuff does always seem more reasonably priced than Shell V-Power . I do still use V-Power if I'm going out on track, but for normal use I always stick the Momentum stuff in .

I'm sure your car needs to be mapped for higher octane fuel for it to make any difference.. Mine isnt, so i use normal unleaded

Higher RON turbo car = less det - always a good thing. On these fairly crude ECU's cars, it makes a difference.

I've noticed no difference between Momentum and V Power in any car I've had, including the 200.

I'd say fuel makes a big difference, I only use v power because the 3 times I've used bp 97 in my stage 3 s13 it's defo been slower, and less responsive.

Even when I had a friend in the car I ran the tank empty of 97 and filled up with v power, few miles later he turned round and asked if I upped the boost! He had no clue on the different fuel!

As Mark said it will det it's tits off if boost turned up

And your wrong it has been proven to produce more BHP on a NA engine and a surprisingly large amount more on a turbo car with standard map
By an impartial adjudicator (5th gear)

I was talkign about NA engines, as that is what clouder has (clio) 5th gear test shows very little gain on the golf gti (is it a turbo?) and no gain at all on the clio.. The only gains were on the impreza, of which im sure subaru recommends you use that fuel over normal unleaded anyway

Any decent mods to the sx, boost increases especially and you must run decent fuel.

But on something like a stock clio its unlikely to make much difference.

    I tend to use Momentum because;

It's cheaper than V-Power round here
    Clubcard Points
Seems to run the same on either of the 2 (unlike BP Ultimate, which it doesn't seem as smooth on)

And if your car (which i assume is a S13) isnt running standard boost you risk blowing it up. A car doesnt have to be mapped for a higher octane fuel in order to get benefits from it

I have a jap Sr20de and it seems happiest on Tescos 99.
1.37 usualy around MK. I've found no difference using Vpower and like others avoid BP 97 as there's a noticeable difference.

Well thats what you get for picking a stupid username

There is little point running a NA car on super IMO as the main reason to use it is to supress det which you wont really get on a NA car unless you have a problem. Also you would need a shitload of mods to even think about remapping a NA car so when people mention mapping you just guess they are talking about forced induction.

(and if you join up you can have an avatar )
