    Cool Nano Sealents

Nano seems to be the new buzz word in detailing, with nano technology being used in a lot of new products etc. So yesterday I bought some wolf's Chemicals Body Wrap. It's not cheap, works out at £165 a litre, but you do use very little on a car, it spreads a long way.

It's been getting rave reviews for it's shine, hydrophobic properties and it's durability, it can last 18 months It is very easy to apply, but the prep has to be top notch, then paint has to be spotlessly clean with any previous sealants, glaze or waxes removed, and as the Body Wrap has no filling ability like a glaze or a filler polish like Auto Glym Super Resin Polish to mask swirls it's best applied after machine polishing when the paint is swirl free and totally clean. I've applied it to a small area on my own car and the water beading is nothing short of mental, it's almost impossible to make the paint wet, the water just runs clean off

The first victim is going to be a Mercedes SL350 on Sunday

Not yet, but as I type I'm half way through the paint correction on a Merc SL which the nano sealant will be going on

Well the SL is done. The nano sealant is very easy to use, like wipe on, leave it 15 minutes to haze and buff off. But ideally the preparation needs to be top draw because the sealant won't mask any swirls etc, and it need to be applied to spotlessly clean paint, so you can't use a glaze to mask swirls and the paint needs an alcohol wipe before applying the sealant. So it's best used after paint correction when the paint is swirl free and clean.

    The results are stunning though!

So as you've got rid of the swirls then applied this glaze, does that mean the paint won't swirl up now?

No off won't make the paint anymore resistant to swirls or scratches, but as the majority of swirls are caused when washing and drying it can help in two ways. Firstly dirt finds it much harder to stick to the paint, so when you come to wash the car there will be less dirt and what dirt is there will rinse off more easily, meaning there is less chance of marring the paint with your wash mitt. And secondly when you rinse the shampoo of much more of the water will run off. Body Wrap makes the paint extremely hydrophobic, so there is less drying required so again less chance of marring the paint

Well I've not had a chance to get any on my car, been too busy detailing other peoples cars But I Have applied it to a couple of other cars and it's very impressive, extremely reflective and gives a very wet look to the paint, and it feels super slick. It's also very easy to apply and buff off. The only downside is the paint has to be very well prepped before applying it.
