    1001st wheel size question

    Hello

I have read loads of threads about wheel size but I still haven't found the info I need:

I'm running a stock suspension, only H&R springs and Koni dampers.
I definitely don't want to roll arches etc.
The wheel must not stick out of the fenders, as this is illegal where I live and cops would you.

    So:
What size can be run without problems?
    I thought 8x17 ET35 front and maybe -just maybe- 9x17 ET 35 rear with 225/45/17 and 245/40/17

    Can anybody confirm this?

    Thank you
    Christian

    it will fit.

But this has not only been asked a bazillon times, it also has been ANSWERED. Which mean you searched, then watched as it returned a whole lot of answers, and just did not want to spend some time reading them ...

Well, in fact I spent nearly an hour reading them back to maybe 2005.

But there is a difference in what people think fits.
There are those who like the wheels sticking out or who are ok with a bit of rubbing the arches and those who don't and it is very hard to separate.
Hence I asked the question and tried to make clear what I am after.

I have seen on other threads you seem to think you are the search button police, but this doesn't mean you have to approach everyone with this attitude.

    Anyway, thanks for the answer

To be fair you'll never know 100% until you fit the wheels, I wouldn't expect high et 8J's to give you problems but thats no gaurentee, esp if the police in your country are pretty touch on this stuff.

Have a play with http://www.willtheyfit.com/ to help you visualise things.

I had R33 GTR wheels, which are that exact fitment, on my 180. I used 225/45 front and 245/45 rears. I did need a slight roll on the rear but if i'd used 235/45 or maybe 245/40 i don't think they'd have caught at all, in fact i've just remembered i put a different brand of 245/45's on and they didn't catch before the roll.

They sat just about perfect in the arches not sticking out at all

17x8 ET35 all round would be trouble free, easy to fit and not give you any issues That's what we have had various European customers fit where they aren't allowed to have any wheel sticking out of the arch, but still look half decent.

Another informative and useful contribution by you AGAIN.

FYI searches for wheel sizes and "will they fit" threads bring up a whole host of completely irrelevant and useless information. It takes some searching to find the exact answer you require sometimes. So rather than have a go at the guy why not just help him out? We are after all a friendly community, we are supposed to help.

It's a shame there are so few 8,5x17 wheels available. I'm pretty sure they would fit on the rear - maybe with ET40

I guess it's 8x17 then and I'll stay with the same size front and rear. At least I can swap front/rear that way

    Thanks guys

8j et17 with 225/40 Falkens 452s was pretty much bang on flush at the rear on my car. No arch roll. It would scrape a bit over bumps. The front sat ever so slightly out of the arch, only 2-3mm out.

The Following wheel tire combos do fit without metal work and are OK for regular german police/TÜV.
    7.5Jx16 ET30 front 225/50/16 rear 245/45/16
    8Jx17 ET30 front 225/45/17 rear 245/40/17
    8Jx17 ET32 front 235/45/17 rear 255/40/17

These are combos some of my friends are using. I don´t see a reason why a 9J et35 with 245/40/17 shoudn´t fit in the rear, the only difference will be, that the tire will not bulge as much as on a 8J.
Or you could buy 3 piece split rims, in case they stick out to much, you can re dish them. I have a set OZ Mito in 8jx17 ET31 and 9.5Jx17 ET35. I know the front fits fine and if the rear turns out to wide i redish them into 9j ET41.

Weirdly enough Im not paid to run the club that you are posting on. Maybe I should just give up huh?

As always Crousti, your advice is generally good, your attitude is not.
