Oh dear I have completely forgot to update this thread...

Anyway the garage is still not ready
But! There has been a lot of progress.


We painted the house and garage when the weather allowed it:











Walls got another 50mm of wool (200mm total) and started to make the inner roof:






And the inner walls:










Then finally I started making the floor. I put 2x50mm insulation under the floor. And attached 253m of floor heating cable to the concrete net.




Then I ordered 6m3 of concrete and a friend made the floor. He also coated it with Mastertop.


When I finally had floor I could start installing the doors. (I had then for few months already just couldn't install them without the floor...)
Was rather interestin puzzle, but got the door in place. The one on this side is special order door that goes as close as possible to the roof as I will someday put a car lift there.











And at last the car is in it's new home





The other door is standard model one and was a bit easier to install.





Now that the doors are in place I can put the heating on. Still a lot to do, but atleast the car is in

So the underfloor heating wiring is now embedded in concrete? (I know next to nothing about it) An awesome amount of insulation there but I suppose you need it. We've just put up stables and they're tongue-and-groove wood on a wood frame on 2 courses of bricks. No insulation as we have pussy winters here. As in "-5 and 3 inches of snow!! MY GOD!!! WE'RE GONNA DIE!!!!!!111!!11!!"

As I said. Pansies. We had good winters when we lived in the Alps - a cold day was -25 and snow was in meters. Much like I imagine it would be in Finland.

Finally had time to start making the garage / storage wall.

The wall is attached to the floor with 6mm reinforcing bars embedded in the concrete:



I made the wall frame from laminated veneer lumber. Shouldn't twist as easily as regular lumber.

I'd love to have a small room as part of the garage. What are you going to use it as ? A "clean" room, a "dirty" room or just a cupboard ?

I finished the outsides during the winter:

What are these called in english? The things that cover the seam between the window frame and the wall?

That garage looks very nice.

As for the bits on the windows. I'd call them architraves, the same as the internal door surrounds that cover the join between the frame and the plasterboard.

I must say that I am actually rather pleased (and maybe even a bit proud) about how it turned out. I mean considering I have never built anything before

I will get either a two post car lift or scissor car lift at some point... Just can't decide which one...
