    Elbows and downpipes

    Hello Guys,

Part way through removing stuff to change the headgasket on my s14a.

Took the turbo off today, and offered up the new turbo elbow and instantly noticed it was the wrong size. A bit of googling has revealed that this is a longer elbow for an S14, rather than an s14a.

As I need to buy a downpipe, could I just buy an S14 downpipe, and fit it? or will this be a daft idea.

    Pic of the differences..

    Many Thanks,

    Stuart

You will need the elbow, downpipe and decat to all be for the same model. So you could use an S14 elbow, downpipe and decat and it will all fit on an S14a, but you can't mix and match parts from both.

    S14 decat is 315mm and S14a decat is 345mm.

Like Ralz said, as long as you get all 3 matching, it will work.

Also he has put right sizes for decats too

Worse would of been if you got mismatched bits, and then wondered why it was leaking / not sitting right etc

Not hard to find the bits really, but good luck

I think I have a spare 3" S14 downpipe. I was told it was for an S14a when I bought it but I couldn't get it to fit, then when I compared it to the one I removed it was a different shape

I'll try and confirm if you're interested?

    Hello Ralz,

Thank you, however as I already have the s14a decat, I may aswell get the correct elbow. I also have a downpipe, but it hangs quite low and affects the whole exhaust position. Hence wanting to replace it.

Love your car, emerald green, low, and stockbody is the best combo in my opinion! What size is your front plate?

No worries, and thanks! I'm not 100% sure on the plate, but I think it is standard JDM size. Either way it is a bit tall for my liking, I'd like one slightly shorter so it doesn't cover the intercooler as much.

It is currently half stripped as I had a slight rear seatbelt buckle issue and my MOT is on Monday so I ripped the lot out I'm going to leave it like it for a few weeks as I'm off to the Nurburgring soon so a little bit less weight is welcome plus I'll be able to fit all of my tools, camping equipment and a passenger in a bit easier.

Are you going to the performance car action day at Castle Combe on Saturday? If you are come and say hello.

The rear seats are pants anyway! I would normally attend castle combe as I do a bit of photography and with it being local. However I am off to prescott hill climb this weekend. But will keep an eye out in the future!

    Cheers,

    Stuart
