    Sense... it makes none

Take a circle and inscribe a polygon (draw a shape inside). This polygons perimeter is smaller than the circumference of the circle itself.

Superscribe a polygon (outside the circle) and this new polygon is larger than the circumference of the circle.

By increasing the number of sides on a polygon the closer it gets to the shape of a circle. Increase the number of sides on the earlier two polygons - their perimeters can define two series; one increasing and one decreasing.

Some Greek guy with too much time on their hands used a 96 sided polygon and came up with an upper limit of around 3.142857 and a lower limit of approx 3.140845. By having the only pattern in the first three digits this proved that Pi was in fact 3.14 (2d.p) then this 'approximation' was improved on later using more more sophisticated calculations as they didn't have to use bags of sand for addition......

There... I just sinlge handedly ruined the joke

but Jon's "proof" that Pi is 4 isn't using polygons. The polygon method would cut the corners off to make the square an octagon.

Jon's replaces 2 line segments with 2 equal indented line segments, it's a fractal length. Even if reduced to a cross + it still has length 4 (each leg has 2 lines).

That only shows the perimeter of the outside of the circle ..... to get it accurate you need to do the inside as well and then average them

the inside of the circle works out to be 2.8

average them out and you get a circle perimeter of 3.4 .... hmmmmmmm

The median of which would be 3.1 which is pretty close to 3.14

No. Because in an enneacontakaihexagonal bed, you would have many "heads of the bed" to choose from so you'd get no sleep. With a round bed, you have no choice so you just go to sleep.

    Round beds are worry free

Unless some enneacontakaihexagonal bedroom action footage is forthcoming, even I am declaring this thread as boring.
I'll have to find something more fun for tomorrow. Maybe a polynomial puzzle or something.

tbh I thought pi=4 was cool enough You lot are weird.

that is smaller on the inside than the outside .... so if you want to know how big it is, you need to measure both and take the average
