The fact that an S12 can support the 3L V6 from the 300ZX on an OEM subframe would be the winner for me. Not sure how tight it would be with the twins but certainly the N/A shouldn't have an issue fitting seeing as the USDM 240SX S12 SE came with them. I've been trying to convince Clai to do the drop-in conversion for years now!

    S15 SR20DE on ITBs

If ny calculations are correct, should be good for 200bhp, whilst keeping the front-end weight to a minimum. I've no interest in chasing numbers any bigger than that on this project, so have no requirement for a turbo and all the extra gubbins/grief.

Cool idea! Do some searching for a user called PhatBob on here, he built an ITB'd SR20 a few years back so possibly has a wealth of knowledge posted about them.

Here's the FS thread, disappointing power figures though for whatever reason: http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.p...SR20DE-on-ITBs

If you could find yourself an Autech S15 engine now then you'd be away in a hack! 200bhp N/A 6-speed out of the box - perfect for your needs & drop-in for added ease.

I spotted Bob's thread all right. As far as I can see the low power was due to cam choice being restricted by the amount skimmed off the head. He had 1.5mm taken off, to raise compression, and was worried about contact if running a higher lift cam. Also he was using an S14 DE, which I believe (but may be wrong) produces leas power stock. I think I'm right in saying the S15 Spec S is >160bhp?

Autech S15 engine would be ideal, but super rare, and I imagine would command a premium...a week before Racewars.... (couldn't resist)

God no! Will be incredibly subtle and stock-looking on the outside

Excuse my ignorance, is that an SR20VE then? If so, I was considering that all right

Aye, about 163bhp (165PS) out of the box.

Having said that, you never know - would be worth doing a Google or ebay hunt for one. The F&F Tokyo Drift cars were all Autechs & there's a good chance some of those were converted to turbo/engine-swapped since they were sold from the set for example. Or even ask an importer & see how much it'd be to source you one? No harm in asking!

SR16VE, people put SR20 bottom-ends on them to make SR20VEs.

Yeah, that's what I meant, the 16VE head on the SR20 block. I thought the main advantage was running advanced timing on E85. What's the advantage to the VE conversion on a NA engine on normal pump fuel?

Brand new and on Jap fuel.... Not many n/a S15's making much more than 155bhp in standard trim on irish fuel

The F&F S15 that was here went to Finland (IIRC) and he swapped it out for a 2JZ so they are about but will be very difficult to find...

    Edit;

Did the UK primera GT not have an SR20VE? They are rare here but can be picked up reasonably cheap (the full car) The head is probably a lower spec than the standard 1.6 VZR's though...

They're mounted transversely though, aren't they? I assume it would be a ball-ache to fit for RWD/

Just for the 20ve head you will still need to find vzr itb's or get them made up...

Get some 20valve ae111 throttle bodies and get a manifold made to suit. Easy done if you know a good welder. I know a beams 3sge done this way. ITBs would be 150 and say the same again for a manifold
