Quieter Exhaust
I've got a japspeed downpipe midsection and back box on my 13. On short journeys its ok, foooking loud but its bearable.
Me and the misses went away over the weekend, and on the way back her ears began to hurt, from the exhaust noise. Started off reasonably quiet and bearable, then as we got closer to home, and the exhaust heated up the pitch changed and began to annoy us, almost like it had a hole in it under the car. The exhaust is loudest at 3000rpm and of course 70 in 5th is about 3000.
Does anyone know if there is a suitable midsection i can put in, that will quieten the car, or anyone able to advise a quieter exhaust??
Thanks for looking

How about this one:Japspeed silenced decat. They say it decreases the sound level by 15dB which is a lot. I don't know if anyone has experience with it...

HKS silent hi power is very good, had one on my old 14a. Currently rocking a nismo exhaust which imo is even better - less droney, more engine note not just loud noise. Better construction too.
Discontinued but can be found 2nd hand on Japanese auction sites.

As you mention budget...
How about taking your car to you local custom exhaust fabricators (longlife ect) and having the hollow cans replaced with proper silencers, as large as you can fit in the space. I did this with mine and at static test @ 3k pulled 69db, where before it was about 110db. Cost me about £90 for the silencers and welded them on myself.
