    Unipsycho's Honda Civic Aerodeck project.

I've had my Honda Civic Aerodeck for about 2 years now and this is what I've done so far

Here is my Cascade Green Pearl coloured VTi deck as I brought it, with full Honda History and only 58k

First 'Mod' I have done, (if you can call it a Mod) was to get a full Thule roof rack system capable of carrying my family's collection of mountain bikes. I brought Thule Aero bars and the foot pack together with 4x Thule Pro ride cycle carriers

    Oh and a dog guard!!

I have also upgraded the tyres from Budget to something with a little more grip and now have Khumo Ecsta Sports all round and haven't had a problem with them yet.

Then I got a custom made cat back system, because you can't buy an off the shelf one for the Aerodeck

Tilt screen or head for a better view!!!

    Sorry it's upside down!!

(my neighbours haven't washed it for 6 months Golf!)

    Warning, Shameless plug

I increased the overall bore of the exhaust to 57.1mm but kept it subtle sounding.

I then upgraded the panel filter to K&N added Denso iridium Plugs, and Hamp shortie oil filter.

I then found a super rare OEM mid level spoiler

It's going to be the only one in the WORLD in Cascade Green Pearl

    And here it is

    and fitted.

Nice bit of kit that Tom!

You only need two tools in life - wd-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the wd-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

And if you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem!

I then set about de-badging the rear of the Civic

I have left two badges on the back

Cracked out the old Humbrol paints and had a little bash at tidying up the Aerodeck one

Then I had to sort out the terrible handling of the Aerodeck, First port of call was the MG ZS 180 Shocks and springs.

The difference between the two on the front.

Then this happened at all four corners!

Then I drove it home, Fook me sideways the wrong end of a brush! What a difference!
I can now Pilot round a rounabout without feeling sea sick and when the IABS open the back end doesn't bog down anymore.

Before and after shot to give you an idea of the drop. It's very small

    and some random whoring...

Now it drives like a proper car!!

Thanks mate, it's a good family wagon!

    New random photowhoring..

Mostly with stuff on the roof!

4 Bikes, 4 People, 1 Dog, 1 Unicycle and all the tools and Kit for a day out on the bikes, no problem and still enough power to overtake stuff on the way home
And the best news, the MGZS suspension has been brilliant even under a full load.

    Before!

The Aerodeck as standard doesn't even have an anti-roll bar
So I got an MG ZS 180 one.

    After:

The Handling has gone from Granddad to great!

I then got hold of a second hand Jap-speed 4-1 manifold and de-cat

Cleaned it up and wrapped it.

I then set about a full chrome delete, the chrome annoyed me!

And de tangoed the headlights whilst I was in there.

And also the rear number plate garnish..

    All re fitted..

And last weekend I found some wheels

The VTi has the same stud fitment as the s13 so you can understand how hard it is to find good second hand wheels, but I found some in the end!

    And that's it so far!

I used to have one of these; good cars!!

Hows it driving with the MG suspension? Have the breathing mods made any noticable difference to power?

It drives awesome with the MG suspension, it's the best £100 i've spent on it by far!

As for the breathing mods it's a little more responsive and alot more noisy!

Mine was affectionately called "The Grandad Car".

Despite looking like a pensioner-wagon, the LSD was really good around the twisties. The engine felt rather strangled up top, but not sure if that was due to the car being old/tired, or whether it was a breathing issue (hence me asking!).

I surprised a Vauxhall Astra VXR and a Scooby last night with it, I did get a bit of a run on them though!
I don't think the age/mileage of the car matters, over on the owners club for these there are some high mileage cars still running good power.

With regards to the breathing mods the next item on the shopping list is an Integra type R air box, after I've got the rear arches rolled. Having the kids in the back over the weekend, it has developed a small rub on the back tyres.

I started reading this thread and all I could think was "Why would you do this?". BUT, I'm really starting to like this, it's bit different to the norm!

    Thanks, that made me smile!

I Chose the Aerodeck Civic because it's practical and it does have the same B18 engine as the Intergra R (with a few subtle changes).

Also People just don't expect it to be as quick as it is.

    A couple of new pics..

    That's quite a considerable improvement
I wish I could like the rear end design, keeping the rear doors from the hatchback makes it look a bit cut n' shut to me. 'Tis but a minor niggle though

I know what you mean, when you look at cars that were designed as an estate from the outset (like volvos etc) the lines flow better. Unfortunately there are not many Japanese small estate cars to be found!

Good news, I may have found a body shop to do a small arch roll on the rear. Saves me worrying about fudging it!
