Ireland Christmas Party - Saturday 8th December

    Hey Guys

After some discussion, we’ve decided that a similar format to last year would be the best option, so there will be a meal, followed by a night of drunken shenanigans in Dublin city centre.

This year’s venue is the Mongolian Barbeque in the heart of Dublin City, Temple Bar.

    logo.jpg

For anyone who hasn’t heard of it, it’s basically an all you can eat buffet, where you select your own ingredients from an extensive selection of meat, fish, vegetables, herbs, spices & sauces, and the chefs cook it for you on the spot.

Having been before, I can tell you that it’s a great experience, and the quality of the food is excellent.

There is a special 3 course Christmas menu being run on the night:

    Starter
Platters of starters including Duck Spring Rolls, Vegetable Parcels, Spicy Chicken Wings, and Prawns in Filo Pastry

    Main
Stir fry Mongolian BBQ Buffet (unlimited trips) with Steamed Rice

    Dessert
    Selection of Desserts

The price per person is just 15 Euro for members & partners, or 25 Euro for non-members.

Once everyone is sufficiently stuffed, we’ll move on to one of the many great pubs in the city centre for some serious messin’.

As it's Christmas party season, and most work dos are on a Friday, this is all happening on Saturday 8th December.

Of course all members & guests & partners are welcome to attend. For anyone living further away from Dublin who’d like to attend, there are plenty of hostels & hotels located in or very close to the city centre, and a lot are much more reasonable than you’d expect.

Also, if anyone would like to travel up for the meal only, parking at the Red Cow Luas is very reasonable at €2 for 4 hours, or €4 for 24 hours, and travel time is only 20 minutes into the city centre.

Of course anyone who'd prefer to skip the meal, post up here so I can let you know where we'll be heading afterwards

If you have any questions just ask.

So who’s in then? (copy & paste please)

Cheers mate. Yeah, it's a good spot all right, and you definitely won't be left hungry after it!

I was thinking Sat might be better myself as there's probably a lot of work parties on on the Friday.

Nearly 100 views, and only three responses?

The Christmas session is the one annual event that you definitely don't need a 200SX for!

Is there no interest from members/guests for a Christmas meal this year?

If there's something you'd prefer to do, please let me know. I'm happy to listen to any and all suggestions!

Right guys, voting is closed and on face value the results indicate that Friday is preferred.

However, as so few people have responded, and James can't make Friday, does anyone object to having it on Saturday instead?

No objection, but would prefer Friday so the rest of the weekend's free to do other stuff.

Great stuff. Will be good to see you again. I'll let you know where we'll be headed, but most likely somewhere in/near Temple bar initially.

By the way, if anyone else wants to meet us after the meal, that's perfectly fine too

Right lads, the table is booked for the 8th, and it turns out that they are only running the set Christmas menu for December.

I've updated the first post with details, but essentially it's 25 quid for 3 courses (including unlimited buffet trips for the main). I've arranged for members & partners to receive a ten euro subsidy each, as opposed to the usual 5, to bring it down to 15 euro per person, which is cracking value.

So keep adding those names lads, it's going to be a great night

I bet Drift Ireland aren't providing a slap up 3 course meal for 15 quid though

Just kidding. I haven't been on DI in a long time myself so didn't realise. Unfortunately there's only so many suitable nights in Dec, so it was always going to clash with something.
