    McLaren P1

Finally, something supercar ish looking out of them

    3.8-litre twin-turbo V8, now delivering 737hp and 530lb ft

electric motor, incorporated directly into the engine block casting. This delivers 179hp and 192lb ft on its own, enough to enable the P1 to glide around city centres in eery silence for up to six or so miles

the electric motor has been tuned to fill in any gaps in the V8's power delivery, boosting low-end response before the turbos spool up

DRS button, reducing the rear wing's drag by nearly a quarter for increased top speed

IPAS (Instant Power Assist System) that lets you manually deploy the electric motor's 179hp
    Interestings....

So it has DRS and KERS....

Nice...does the electric motor charge from the battery?

I particularly like the IPAS button - if for no other reason than the abbreviation being so fitting. But seriously, I mean, you've got a 700+bhp V8 twin turbo, and you're going to need to kick the electric motor in to overtake something?!

Shame that the Enzo replacement is going to be considerably better looking, similar performance and will probably be a lot more fun to drive.

Pah, pah and oh err pah. Some people like other cars than Ferrari.

I love it. Really looks like something from a sci-fi film, so organic.

But the enzo replacement isnt in the same segment as this. This will compete with the baby ferraris, the V8's.
The enzo replacement will be a 500k hypercar.
This will go head to head with ferraris replacement for the 458.

The MP12-4C is their competitor to the 458 (which isn't the baby Ferrari, that's the California). The P1 is their Enzo/918 competitor, probably all going to be over a million.

I think it's going to be special, channeling a bit of Mazda Furai.

God that looks nice. McLaren must be the only name that really tingles like Ferrari. How come none of the other F1 teams make anything?

I'm pretty sure Renault, Lotus, Mercedes and Caterham might disagree with that statement.

What exactly is so Furai about it? Funnily enough, that was the first thing that shot to my mine when I saw the bulbous flowing lines of the P1.
Is that spy shot what you are basing your fully qualified views of it looking better than the P1 on? Because the only one I've seen other than that is of the front end looking a bit like a corvette with an F50 bonnet.

I'm guessing the 918 will be rubbish as well, and nothing compared to whatever Maranello have to offer?
The P1 is a showcase for loads of stuff that hasn't really been seen on a roadcar thus far - yes, Ferrari may pull something equally impressive out of the hat, but I quite like solid facts instead of conjecture.

The Enzo wasn't exactly a good looking car really let's be honest. It was just awkward. A masterpiece of engineering to be sure, but if I wanted a pretty Ferrari I'd go and ogle either of these for a bit:

Or, because it's my favourite looking race car of all time...

See I'd disagree with you there just on the grounds that the F40 isn't a pretty car - it's just outright awesome. Much the same with the Countach which looks totally ridiculous nowadays, but still fundamentally amazing

    You know what I mean

I suppose Williams are one of the few who've been there long enough to do one? Red Bull doesn't sound right for a supercar really..
