Well basically I wAs told that I could get some sort of protein that can help with muscle recovery the next day so you won't ache as much. Can anyone give any advice on what's out there?

Mcdonalds breakfast has nearly 30gs of the stuff.
if its for DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) you really want whey protein immediately post workout and then eat cottage cheese before bed as its a very slow digesting protein.
By the sounds of it though youre fairly new to it all and as such you will hurt a lot im afraid.
whey from myprotein.com is cheap and tastes good, its what i use
might be worth looking into creatine supps as well to help with recovery and soreness
After watching a doc on the truth about sports supplements, I would save yourself millions of pounds and drink skimmed milk.
Another vote for myprotein, try their true whey, some of the flavours are really nice, cookies and cream!
Whey protein and get some creatine.
Doms will also go away after you get used to lifting, well it might not go totally away but should get a little less.
How can skimmed milk not work ? Protein powder can make a great tasting milkshake, but all its done for me is burn a hole in my pocket and cause explosions,
that puts holes in my pants, jeans and even a mattress, although this took a decade to achieve.
And my friends to quickly exit buildings.
Now my A-hole is much happier and doesn't think its like an asmatic whale.
Cnp promass is a nice tasting one, as it happens im drinking one now
I use Reflex Instant Whey, and that I find is pretty good
I use BSN Syntha 6 before sleep on days with weight workout
Doing a decent warm up and down with static stretches helps.
supplement wise Whey protein before and after workouts with a casein (egg) protein before bed as its released over a longer period! If your doing alot of weights youl always be sore though. That means your doing something right :-)
Static stretches (3 on each muscle, 30 seconds each time) straight after exercise should help reduce DOMS and also improve flexibility and muscle efficiency.
I would have a good look around before you buy any if you do. all the manufacturers are fighting for customers at the mo due to the tax hike on supplements not long ago. with a bit of research you can save a lot..
the brands listed above ^ plus bulkpowders, one on.
you may have reduced doms with a small amount of creatine as well but dont bother with these 'all in one' jobs. rip off! get some creatine powder and add it
I like Sainsbury's frozen curries.
Chicken Tikka 50% of protein GDA with less than 25% of GDA for everything else. Not a "balanced" diet as it's very skewed to protein. You can have 2 a day a still be able to eat some more to get the other 50% of the carbs etc to match the GDA.

Chicken jalfrezi, even "better" protein / other stuff ratio.

M&S Fuller For Longer ready meals generally have 30-35g of protein per serving. Low fat and low carbs too
