There not at all slow, the power is very linear and is a world apart from a turbocharged engine. I had a 290hp focus ST before this and the 350 is quicker off the line but maybe the focus has a little more mid range, its hard to tell. Corners are a different matter, I have never had a car that feels so planted in the corners. A real drivers car. To me its the complete package, low down driving position, lovely big engine and RWD all for fiesta money.
Yeah i know mine would be quicker but would it feel like a massive drop, do 350's feel fast or do they just cruise along...quickly
I keep thinking to myself if only people had an owners club for the 350Z to go to, they could have a whale of a time.
If only such a thing existed....
Dont forget this is the 350sxocbmwoc now.....
Yes mate, it has - thats why we had 150 odd people turn up for a weekend at Anglesey recently, 30+ going ll the way to Le Mans and Nur every year and have nearly 10,000 likes on Facebook. Id be the first to admit the forum isnt as busy as 3-4 years ago but we still see 15,000 posts a month and have plenty more lurking.
Piman has made his dislike of 350's clear but hes entitled to his opinion the same as others are entitled to theirs, so a thread on 350Z's is just as valid as one on Skylines, MX5's or anything else, if you dont want to see it then go elsewhere - its called the 350Z thread FFS, its not like you stumbled across it by accident

I don't dislike 350s. I just don't view them as an upgrade.
I think it depends on the spec of the sx and what you want from a car tbh. I like them but wouldn't swap my sx for one as it's just not what i'm after I'd say it's an upgrade if you're looking at like for like standard models.

Is that because you compare a stock 350z to a tuned 200SX? I would consider a stock 350z and upgrade from a stock 200SX.
Also, its newer. Newer is always classed as an upgrade. People "upgrade" to new phones, laptops, tablets etc all the time

Can't resist, I'll take the bait hook line and sinker.

How can having to buy an Astra 1.4 be an upgrade? Just so it's there every time you need something quite long from B&Q.
Or rent a Polo every time you need 4 seats?
350Z is in the Merc SLK, BMW Z4 market.
S15 with 250bhp very closely matched the early 350Z for performance and came with 2+2 seats and something like a boot that didn't need instructions on how to get 2 sets of golf clubs in. 2001 they had a 276bhp VTEC turbo SR20VET in the X-trail GT that could have gone in the S15.

How can a 2 seater need a 12.5cm/5" longer barge like wheelbase than a 2+2? They "fixed" the 370Z with a 2.55m wheelbase (10cm/4" shorter) and 11m turning circle.
If you made a pure 2 seat based on the S floorpan you could cut about 15cm/6" out of it. Be a bit lively then.

ZOMG! People in driving-other-cars-and-rating-them shocker!
ZOMG2! Other cars in standard form not as fast as heavily modified 200SX shocker.
So much with the mental. Objectivity is a wonderful thing.
350 will be sitting in my collection when I can afford another fun daily - lovely, well rounded, competent, nice sounding, speedy, nice handling performance bargains.
I'm totally curious to know how the coefficient of drag compares to that of an S-body though?

Anyone who thinks a 350Z isn't fast, doesn't turn well or doesn't drift well needs to go for a passenger ride with Docwra
Doc took me for a drive in his 350z at the weekender and I also went for a passenger ride in another 350z which was there.
Only one word can sum up what I think of them... "Want!!!"
bovvered?
I'd take the 350Z before a S14.
It's got a better CdA
Z34 Cd is 0.3 is decent.
RS13 Cd 0.3 with teardrop alloys, 0.31 with spoked alloys.
All the notch back S13/14/14a/15 have CD about 0.33 - 0.34 so are piss poor.
But it's CdA that really counts. Frontal area of 350Z is quite big and fat as it's 25mm taller than all SX. Much wider at 1.816m than RS13 1.69m and S14 1.727m or S15 1.695m. 0.19mē bigger frontal area than the RS13 and 0.15mē bigger than S14. 350Z just squeaks into 2nd.
200SX RS13 5.88 sq ft / 0.55 mē.
.
.
350Z CdA 6.52 sq ft / 0.61mē
200SX S14 CdA 6.7 sq ft / 0.62mē
370Z is way better than a 350Z. As a stop gap while for waiting for prices of 370Z to come down a 350Z has to be the choice but it is a 2nd choice.
US market would never stand for a jumped up 200SX. 200/240SX in USA is a "College Kid" car.
