    S15 T28r or 2871R turbo ?

    Current set-up

    S13 Blacktop engine
    Stock turbo
    Stock injectors
    Stock ecu
    Fmic
    Uprated turbo elbow
    3" exhaust system
    Walbro 255lph pump

    What I have....

    Apexi power fc
    aftermarket manifold
    500cc injectors
    Profec B boost controller

I like the way my car drives at the moment. Very responsive and extremley good on fuel. Would it be worth upgrading to the t28r or save the extra and go 2871r ? Never been in a car with either turbo so unsure of how to compare.

when i upgraded to a 2871r from a t28 on my s14a i found the fuel consumption better than before.. obviously if you cane i everywere this wont be the case.. in my opinion the 2871r is in a different league... your car will pull way past the size of you balls :-D EDIT get a bigger afm.. Z32.. and z32 fuel filter 2

Won't be for a while mate. New house, wedding ect has put the blockers on that. Decided now to be sensible and run a moderate spec with sensible power. Invest some money in handling and brakes.

You will lose some response if you hit up a 2871r, but it will make you smile more.

As piman says You do get a little more lag with the 2871r but it's not too bad and worth it in the long run I'd be looking at swapping the injectors for 740cc units and obviously fitting a z32 afm to really make the most out of the tubby

Do you guys run the internal or external wastegates on the 2871? I'm planning ahead for later in the year when my t28 dies and not sure which wastegate to go? I've read they get boost creep but how bad is it?

I never had boost creep issues with mine. External gate is a lot more money...

I'm running an internal gate. They do suffer from boost creep although mine doesn't seem to at all. Not sure why but perhaps it's because of my exhaust set up.

What's different in your exhaust setup?

Nothing. It's 3.75" from the cat back. I think i'm lucky that what I has suits my tubby.

i realize it's not the question you asked but why not GTX2863R or GTX2867R instead, They'll match the 71R for power and the 28R for response. Win Win

Will probably do this. Sure Rubix is running one of these.

They are better turbos but a lot more expensive.

T28r's are the biggest waste of money ever. Plain bearing T28s are pretty much just as good.
