Stock clutch just now but will upgrade with turbo.

Seriously thinking about using this as a track car next year. Not for drifting, fast track. Wonder if that will effect my decision with which set up I run.

I have that spec and I'm 405bhp. I think Scottie has that spec at 398bhp.

Correct for 10 points. I run a GTX2867R 0.64 turbo. Its punchy as hell and its power is there till the redline. If it was between the GTX options, for you paddy I would say the GTX2863R. For the same reasons as below:

If your wanting to drive the car hard, but keep the car reliable, a T28r might be better for you. It'll push you upto 300hp and you'll still have a very reliable car. Running a 2871 or a GTX2867 will put more strain on the stock engine. Just a factor to consider. I love mine with the bigger turbo, but its always a thought in the back of my mind that I've almost doubled the stock output on a stock engine.

I can take you a run in mine next time I see you, are you coming over to the open day on Sunday?

I'd imagine 300hp is the most the T28R can take without death.

I have the GTX 2867R also but they are alot more money and you dont get exahust housing so you need to purchase that also.

Good turbo when they are not trying to kill you !

Both good figures and very much at the top end of the 2871's power. Mine made 402 but jez backed it off to 385 in high boost to keep it safe as there was a slight sign of det at 402.

The whole thing with the 2871r is it really depends on the trim... the .53 (I think) is what Chris has and it won't get into the 400 without help, the .64 might with some good tuning and then there is another (0.76 I think) which is very capable.

Am I correct in thinking that the smaller the trim, the better the response ?

    There is a 48trim , 52trim and 56trim

52trim is the one that everyone buys with a .64 housing

I have the 56trim which is capable of pushing more air due to its bigger compressor wheel. Apparently this turbo with a.86 housing can push 400bhp at 1.2 bar

I did 312bhp/337lb/ft on a stock t28 on a Dyno Dynamics rolling road, though I was running 104 RON e85 fuel at the time.

afaik JP on here did about 330bhp on a T28R but he was also on E85 at the time which allows loads more timing than pump fuel.

stock s14 turbo will take more abuse and still do 300bhp. And cheaper to replace or rebuild.

Honestly. The ball bearing centre makes sweet F.A. difference, in my experience. If you have some mild head work, you can get over 300bhp without pushing any more than 1.1bar.

2871r with .64 housing pretty much pulls at the same rpm.
