I have had them on my car for a few years and I have never had any problems with spark.
And I got cheap Hüco coils instead of OEM VAG ones... I have had somewhere between 400-500HP the whole time.
The stronger spark means more heat so it's not recommended to use the plug cover with them. Or you can do what I did and get a vented plug cover. That way the coilpacks will last a lot longer.
They look like a great solution. Stronger neater cheaper and overall tidy. Especially since you can ditch the oem ignitor aswell it frees up more soace and saves having to heat shield it from the turbo.
So much so a friend of mine with a 1000bhp r32 is looking at converting his to them and his other halfs s13 due to coil pack issues.
so who is using this COP VAG on ca18det? any pics of the kit? my coilpacks if they are the same from factory have at least 200.000 km, and i´m looking to change them and this is a good option because if any modification is needed to the charge time or dwell i can make in the nistune. and they are cheaper lol
I just recieved set of vag coils from z power, they are in just a question:isnt there any issue to use them without holders, just plugged on plugs? Cannot they become loose?
On the vag engines they only pushed onto the plugs(least my a3 1.8t they are) so should be no issues there.
Thanks for info, thats nice...BTW, did anybody heard that loosening of this coil from plug (heat, vibration, anything) can cause destruction of coil itself?
