    Which Weekend Car For 2k?

Looking at getting a cheap fun weekend car for upto 2k.

Very tempted by a Clio 182.
    What would you get?

Needs to be fairly cheap to run, standard (dont want to modify) and obviously quickish and fun!

Will only be used at the weekend as i have a company car for the rest of the time.

    Thanks

    Forget quickish, buy an MX5.

Buy a rising rate regulator and nail a turbo to the mx5. Still reliable and with the extra 4-5 psi it makes an mx5 into a brilliant fun little car

Mx5 is out of the question.
STs I'm not massively keen on unless its a brand new one!
And EP3 is what my misses wants when she gets her licence so I may aswell not bother with one of those either..

    Not much else a? Lol

Go oldschool and get a 205 gti or even a 306gti6.

The clio you said is a good fun car but they lack a good diff so end up doing one wheel spins all the time. Like most front wheel drive stuff.

I think the best bet for 2k would be either an rx8 or a civic/accord type r.

yeah but then the civic or accord lacks a diff. And i dont need the practicality of a saloon and an RX8 is hardly cheap to run!

I bought a Clio 172 cup to use at the anglesey weekender and daily driver.

It's really good fun, it was cheap to insure, it does 40mpg and has a surprisingly good amount of space to do my stock shopping for my business.

Not quick enough to scare anyone, but I'd recommend one

I'm debating over the wisdom of a Clio 172/182 as a stop gap motor after my M3 but not sure now after how woeful the 1.2 was I hired in Croatia a few days ago. I know, not exactly comparable in terms of handling or engine power but the car had 85k miles on and was pretty much ready for the scrap heap from the delightful collection of noises it was making!

That's French cars for you in general. Our lass has a 182 and it's a hoot to drive.

Yeah my little daily 1.1 Saxo has 45k miles on it and they always feel like a 200k mile old ford. But they stay like that forever. It's just a French car thing.
