    smelly cabin

are there any notorious points for engine/exhaust fumes getting into the cabin?

on let off my car boots a little smoke (slight overfuelling-misfire and burning oil slightly - think i need to pull the crankcase breather and clean it)

anyway, it makes for any "spirited drive" quite unpleasant, i've checked the exhaust right through for any leaks but cant find any.

i've welded all the unused bungs in the firewall i can see (The one right behind the elbow etc) and the bungs in the boot (in case fumes are wafting back from the tailpipe into the cabin.

anyone any ideas, the smell is starting to become annoying

    THANKS!!

    Have a shower?

Make sure the hood is tight (rubber between top of fire wall and underside of hood).
If not, air from engine bay could enter fresh air intake.

after 2 long drives (manc - wales and back) i've noticed the smell only creeps in when the windows are open? this must mean the vaccum is pulling the fumes in from somewhere? could this be correct, would it pull through gaps in/around the boot - pulling fumes straight from the exhaust? as i cant seem to find any leaks in the engine bay

You shouldn't have fumes leaking into the cabin full stop. It must be a gap in the exhaust. Ramp time imho

    Check your boot is sealed

Had the back lights out at some stage and didn't seal them in at once
Boy, was the cabin smelling back then. Got me a few headaches as well

Mine did it when turbo elbow to downpipe gasket started going, then again when the rear section came loose around the subframe.

Check your lambda sensor and other bungs are tight in the exhaust system too

i've sealed the rear lights (cheap aftermarket US rears - now all siliconed up) seems to have helped a little!

i cut out the elbow to dp flange and welded a flexi piece in there so it's all one, however i do think it's the gaskets on the turbo and elbow as these keep coming loose, i'm going to strip it down again in the next few days.

VERY tempted to weld the turbo to the manifold....VERY
