Can it be done successfully? I'm sure someone on here with an RB conversion and Grids had done it. I'm hoping to chop the wing above where it joins the side skirt is and pull it out to give me more room. Only need an extra 10mm so I can run wider tyres at the front. I think +50 fronts would be a little overkill. Plus I like tinkering.
Anything is possible! Depends on skill/budget/time etc. I don't see why not.
steve dunn's purple 180sx had this done to it.
I just slotted the mounting holes at the top and pulled tom out a bit but im not to worried about panel gaps.

Yes! And thank you. I couldn't remember who it was that had done it. I reckon if I do something similar I should be able to eek out +10mm or more.
We cut the fake flange out of the outer curvature to open up a bit more.
