    Cool Scratchy scratchy Lexus RX300

Today I've been down to West London to detail this Lexus RX300. My customer has only recently bought the car and as you can see from the pictures had had several arguments with bushes and judging by the door handles, several years of abuse from acrylic fingernails. From the paint thickness readings and the condition of the paint I guessed the car was one lady owner from new and she had a couple of kids. The new owner confirmed this with a slight look of astonishment that I could tell from just the condition of the paint! Needless to say the customer is very happy with the result!

The car looked like this at the end of the day:

I keep and keep saying this. I must get you to do mine and the other halfs audi a3. The thing is lovely but looks similar to the above and needs proper hands to do it (my da6 cant get enough paint off to remove swirls and im too chicken to use a rotary)

You would be surprised at what a DA can actually do, It does take a lot longer than a rotary granted but with the right Pad/Polish combo you would be surprised, Audi paint is pretty hard anyway, What where you using on it?

Menzerna power gloss, meg cutting compound pad. Was going over a small test spot and although it brought the colour out it wouldnt budge the swirls in the paint

Very true, but by the same token a lot can be done by hand, it just takes a lot longer. The door handle recesses had to be done by hand as a machine wouldn't fit in there. I think I used Scholl Concepts polishes on this car. German paint, with the exception of Porsche, is normally on the hard side and needs a polish with a bit more bite and a little more pressure on the machine. I only use rotaries.

I would suggest going to a more aggressive compound, Or you may find it just takes a couple of hits.

Jem, I have just started using the Scholl stuff, Brilliant stuff the S17+ is a great do all IMO
