    Liams Garage Extension

Well moved into a new house with the girlfriend in July.

Picked the house as it was the best combo of garage and house that we both liked. However the garage was just too small to work on the Nissan.... so the extension was planned!

So here are some pre extension photos

    The current specs are:

    Internal measurements - 18ft x 8ft

    Constructed from Lidget concrete panels

The plan was to extend the garage by 2ft in length and 4ft in width to give me enough room to work on the Nissan inside the garage.

The next step was to extend the concrete base of the garage, firstly making a solid base for it to sit on.

Once that was done the concrete was ordered and it was the first time me and Dad had done it so it was a laugh and pretty hard work with a spade and rake.

That was it for a while as work commitments and having a new house got in the way!

Next up was to collect the new parts I needed which included:

Roofing sheets, in corrugated 3 inch profile fibre cement. This was harder than expected due to the new British standard of 5inch profile. We found some in the end and went and picked them up in Mums 106

Then a new garage door was required due to the old one being slightly too small and only a single point locking mechanism

Then to Lidget to get the new panels.

And decided to include a side door so bought a second hand house door from ebay for £40

The the strip down commenced with the removal of the roof

Then it was onto extending the roof trusses

We extended the wall in stages

And again it stayed like this for a short while due to weather etc

The next stage was to put on the roof

Then the side door was installed

And the garage door was installed

and a framework built around it to support the roof

Then the fascia was made using feather-board

And the fascia for the sides and back made from 6x1 inch board.

Then all painted in Dark Brown.

Next up will be sealing the inside to prevent water getting in

Are you going to put a lead flashing over the top of that timber boarding on the front? If not you will get water penetration between the boarding and the roof covering.

    Good good good .

Looking good though. Should be a fairly cheap extension to the garage.

Yeah it hasn't cost me allot, the biggest expense was the concrete for the base
