Right after a few months off we were back to it all guns blazing decided we needed to get the floor sealed up and finished but we needed to make our own panels to suit the chassis we changed etc so started with making a diff tunnel

Then we made the floor section and used the bead roller to press some lines in for rigidity

Marked round diff tunnel cut out and welded in

So all in a good days work

good to see updates, the to do list must be a little bit less now? and I think the bubble rears will look better with a flare
the vertical sides of the rears looked a bit odd like they needed a flare to better match the fronts imo
when it's painted it's going to look so awesome with the arches proper filled with rubber
I've tried to temp my mate to go boosted jap in his mk1 resto before it all gets expensive ,

This weeks job was replace the original inner gearbox tunnel brace that we cut out this is needed to tie in the floors and sides we will also use it as a base to sit the rear hoop of the rollcage on

I’m really happy with how the build is coming on seem to have broken the back of it now

Yeah don’t mind adding the extra weight to get the strength won’t make too much difference with the decent amount of Hp

years ago a mate of a mate ran a mk2 flat front with a lairy pinto/salisbury 4 link live axle in the vecta/fast ford challenge,
full multi-point cage + safety gear (4 line lifeline etc) two seats FRP bonnet/boot,the rest all OE steel and it weighed in at under 950 kgs
the ali block boosted SR can't be heavier than the lump of cast iron pinto,I think you will be around same weight (ish)

less unsprung weight, all round better traction, endless upgrades for diffs/arms/anti-roll bars etc and the car will handle so much better when dialed in
the benefits are win win over the iron girder on Ben hur cart spring's, this is what they should have evolved into
instead 1980 it went front wheel drive with the nasty CVH engine (coarse vibrating harshness)

Some more updates folk started working on the roll cage today and as with everything else on this build we are having to modify it to fit as it’s sitting on the new bracing and the legs coming off the main hoop have to be shortened to fit the larger rear tubs we made

And just for fun we tried out the new headlights, we had already blanked off the indicators as the lights have them in, this will really piss off the purists

good to see progress, the stock sealed beam candles are near useless anyway so a needed upgrade ,I like them and the car is hardly a stock resto

It’s a bit of a modern twist hoping to use stock lenses on the back but fill housing with led strips
