Update time doesn't seem much but in terms of moving on its massive
We now have the rear support for holding the subframe drilled and welded in place
Car spun back over and righted so Kev can get in and do his thing
You can see how the rear chassis had to be modified to suit the 14 subframe and suspension
Had the lovely task of removing the old subframe bushes
Sat the subframe back on to check position still waiting on bolts so we can bolt it up
Really pleased with the progress now once the subframes and suspension are sorted things will come together quickly
And again many thanks to the dream team

Great progress guys! Will you be welding extra brackets into the subframe to stiffen it up while you're at it?

I would advise some gussets on the "bridge" that the subframe bolts up to.
Something we will look at
Some more done today
the front brackets/mounts for the rear subframe welded in place
Also finished modifying the front subframe lower arms Nissan stuff all fits in decent now
Anybody say camber
Happy the project is moving forward

Bit of a milestone this weekend as we got both subframes bolted in place and started attaching arms etc
Wheel sits in ok but I'm going to flare the bubble arch to get something a bit wider on
Even laid the pre maid inner tubs in and they sit not bad
It's good to be adding more in than we are taking away

Kev tries to hide when I take pics but I normally get him in

You're going to have some fun with custom alignment settings! It'll be supporting it's own weight soon by the looks of it - great work!

Update time
Today we concentrated on getting some rear turrets made to hold the rear shocks in place didn't take many pics making them up but here's one in place
So we trimmed a rear inner tub/arch to fit round the turret and then trimmed the to remove the sides etc
Lastly added in a small section to seal the tub
Both sides should be in place and fully welded next week
Things are really starting to take shape

Had couple of hours spare today so fired over to kevs as he's on holiday
So now we know what we're doing on the passenger side we decided to tackle the driver side and cut out the rear outer and inner arch
While I cut out the arches Kev got making the turret and inner arch/tub ready to try in
Also forgot to post a pic of Saturday's work at the front Kieran stripped down the front coilovers and we bought some adjustable ford top mounts and by a stroke of luck they fitted onto the Nissan coilovers with no hassle what so ever

good update,looking good as ever,
I was just thinking the rear arch sections you cut out could be sold on to a restorer if not hacked into little bits by now?
A mate from years back was competing in the vecta fast ford challenge with a NA pinto/t5 g/box mk2
the car was a big bucks build and made about 220 atw's and it was under 900kgs with the boat anchor pinto
this will be a similar weight I'm guessing? and with an easy 300 it will be so quick

Got one more arch at the front to take out then Kieran will sell them on

my next door neigbour engineering mate is doing a 2 door mk1 resto atm,he is making most of the panels he needs as he has the skills and the prices
of anything original and good condition is going up,pattern panels are still cheapish but they fit so badly he found out
he does custom aluminum/steel fab work as well and can make bits for yours, like shaped to fit the scuttle catch cans, header tanks, inlet plenums etc
drop me a PM and I can give you his number so can deal direct if interested
my mate is a perfectionist so may not seem that bad for fitment on this one, iirc he wasn't happy with how it fitted in relation to the bonnet
so he cut the rail off and added a thin section to raise it a few mm,then he did something on the door shut and the lower sill join
the car has had a front ender crash years back don't help with fitment, not a heavy impact but has tweaked everything out of line slightly
he has a genuine mexico wing for one side and that dont fit perfectly on the side that wasn't dented,
but he has made so much for the front end alone its expected tbh, the car was very rusty (oh what a surprise )
