Stage 1A chip now running 95 RON petrol - options?

    Hi Jez,

I've been running one of your Stage 1a chips in my car for the last 6 years or so. (running 1.1 bar to err on the side of caution with E5 petrol) That was grand when E5 here in Ireland was rated at 99 RON. But over the last year or so, none of the petrol companies will commit to such a rating anymore, and now only commit to "meets 95 RON standards". 98 RON "super" has been gone from Southern Ireland for over 10 years now also...
So any advice where that leaves me running such p1ss water petrol to keep things safe? I've been thinking of investing in a knock sensor to know for sure what is going on. Cheers for any advice.

Even with the proper juice I ran 1.1 bar instead of 1.2 bar just for that extra safety factor. And on track days I always reduced it to 1 bar. But now with dishwater in every pump, I'm not sure what is safe anymore.... You guys are lucky with the array of quality fuel options that you have.

**** it ive been using 95 for years on both the S and the Skyline. Interestingly I had a xr6 turbo for a while as a company car and use to put 91 in it for three years I never had a problem. Probably wouldnt try it in my own cars but still.......

Im pretty sure the xr6 wasn't either I'm just saying I think there maybe a little too much hype on the fuel grade..... The Skyline is supposedly mapped for 100 plus from factory had that over seven years and mostly run on 95 ........

If you stay off or turn down the boost im sure it would be fine.
