    Postcode Coverage

Previously I've received great service and great prices from Greenlight.

However unfortunately when I called recently I was told that they no longer have any underwriters willing to offer insurance for my postcode (SE9) so that's a large portion of people they now can't have as customers (population approx. 63k, dunno how many cars that is though lol)

Out of interest, how do my areas stats compared to any of yours who are still with Greenlight?

but that area has less than half the population of SE9 so the car crime stats are close going on peeps per crime

And a damned more than me:

Ghazoobe, have you considered moving somewhere more safe?

Edit: Should the crime rate not be directly proportional to population though? And if unproportional, I would therefore read as a higher crime rate area

Those figures aren't much different to where I live. Similar population and similar overall crime count (400 for me vs 500 for you).

The major difference is in vehicle crime where the figure for SE9 is 3 times what it is in my area.

Violence and burglary are halved in my area but bike thefts are double.

No, you just live somewhere with no policemen ...and very few people.

Basically, theres lots of crime everywhere except where ghost lives lol

Unfortunately money means I can't really move to another area
Thing is, SE9 covers a few big areas with distinct differences in those areas. I bet if you looked at my part of SE9 it would actually be quite low.

The ukcrimestats thing does look difficult to read. SE9 has 5 times the population of my WF16, so most of the figures are kind of proportional per person.
I'm guessing Greenlight did not point you at that website

There was an SXOC insurer a few years ago who suddenly stopped covering a large chunk of the North West (Manchester to Liverpool area) which nobbled a lot of SXOC Members at the time. Dunno fi that still applies today.
The statistics get assessed every year I guess, and it does throw up some strange effects sometimes.

Unfortunately our underwriters have made large losses in your postcode sector for the last 3yrs running and no longer wish to write business there. At the end of the day insurance companies are business entities and if they see an area making them consistent losses they will take the required action. This is taken from our own claims experience statistics not from a general UK insurance finding.

Here is a good guide of how a postcode is rated generally by insurers (this would cover most types of insurance including vans, cars and household) but it gives a decent idea of how high or low a postcode is rated. When insuring modified or performance cars you can appreciate they attract more attention so the risk would be higher than a standard normal 1.2 Corsa etc. http://www.motorcarinsuranceuk.co.uk...-ratings.php#S

We only exclude a couple of hundred of the 52000+ Uk postcodes

Sorry we are unable to help this year.

    Kind Regards
    neil
