I think I made my car worse.

So I've been playing with the sr in the Rx8 all bolt on bigger turbo/injectors all the usual things nothing special and its running 369hp so not to kill the box or stock engine(or at least not straight away)

But after using it a little bit its super quick and handles great but its somehow taken the fun out of it?

It seemed more fun on twisty roads just having a Hdev stage 1a chip now its like gas and brake all the time.

It was like you had to drive it hard now it just feels lazy with power pretty much available throughout the rev range.

Has anyone else had this or am i just getting too old?

Either get it on a track instead as it's now over tuned for the roads or stop being scared and don't use the brakes..lol

this is why I'm gonna go big V8 turbo, hate having no bottom end, on a track its fine but have to be weary of boost coming in mid corner on a long sweeper,
I did a drift day with tight turns and 1st gear was on limiter but second was off the boost unless I attacked it like a weapon, would have been nice to have the torque at 2500 to just blip around

So you're saying now you've got a decent powerband, a fair bit of power and you don't like the way it drives??

You'd prefer something you need to thrash the tits off to get it going anywhere??

Was wondering if you had made it super laggy and ruined the drive.

    I know the feeling...

I think it just depends on the roads. Round here I can probably get from A to B quicker in my Fabia VRS than either my Z4M or 200SX... Different story once you get out of the sticks tho

Suggestion - get a GTX2860 with a 0.64 housing. It might only get you to 340hp max but will to be very responsive. I was getting quotes a while ago to get that wheel mated to a GT25 turbine which would have been more responsive still for a little less peak power.

2871s are great and all, but there are better options available now especially for the power you're at.

It's not all about power. Even more so if It's a good chassis.
I have ruined my FD by making it too powerful. It was far more fun on stock twins. Once the novelty of rocketing to the horizon wears off you start wanting to just drive it more.

Stick some narrower/more shit tyres on it. Then at least you've got lower level of grip to play with,

Disclaimer: I am old, and I can't drive.

ono, you haven't ruined it ..... the stock rx8 with the renesis is just plain underpowered, not by much, just by enough to make that eternal wait between 4000rpm and 6000rpm before she kicks.

you just made this one a little too quick .. back it off to 300bhp

An srx8 sounds like a great idea. I was always a fan of the chassis, and having an FD i was seriously disappointed when i test drove my mates rx8 before looking to buy a 180sx instead. I felt although the rx8 being a way more refined, comfortable and to an extent practical package. The engine let it down for me. If they were factory turbo like the FD i'd of probably bought one.

    So get some pics up

Also i think maybe swapping turbo out for a 2860 or maybe a gtx2863r if you can stretch to it is probably the best idea on the thread so far as that should give you the response you need to at least keep you on toes mid corner and corner exit.

    thats how I felt

I've lowered the boost a bit.

Don't even talk about hardware changes like gearboxes I've only just got over the struggle getting it all right and i still wish I'd done a few things different.
