    Zantetsu-Ken - RaffaCt14's S13

Hi guys! The story with this S13 started last february, but I wanted an S13 since I was a child. Six years ago my Fiat Seicento Sporting was stolen, so I had to search a new car. I wanted a red S13, but my parents objected because of the RWD. So I bought a Fiat Coupe, and i rebuilded her in a couple of years.

After 5 years there was this "opportunity", an S13 that needs rebuild at a very low price. I love lost causes, so I started this project!

This is the firts photo of the car, some weeks before was mine. She was abandoned in a field, in a little town close to volcano Etna.

A friend bought and transported her to Catania.

He started the restoration project, but for some reason he left it to me. Challenge accepted!

    A very clean engine!

This was the first time I saw the car...

    After some days...

    ... I saw some rust...

No problem, it's time to start!

Engine down, the previous owner fried it

Ok, lets go to clean everything!

    The intake manifold

    Before

    After!

    Ready!

The engine compartment is very dirty...

    Let's wash it!

And time to say goodbye to battery holder!

    New painting!

Not a bad way to spend 5 thousand euros!

Thanks guys! I'm posting photos about engine replacement.

The engine is ready, with exhaust manifold, turbo Garrett GT2860rs, elbow and clutch!

    Engine and gearbox assembled togheter

The fan was very dirty, I cleaned it and painted in the same colour of tappet cover and injectors rail.

    The engine was up!

What's the plans for the exterior?

The suspension turrets and cross member look in really good condition so I assume there's not a lot of rust anywhere on the shell?

For now I want only clear all rust, no worries about the painting quality. I think that i will kiss some walls or sidewalk during drift training! xD

Unfortunally there is rust around the windscreen and in the rear bonnet, but not too much!

I assume the first part of the project complete when the car has:

    - No rust
    - Stage 3 complete
    - Coilover and complete brackets
    - JDM rims (Rota Drift or JapanRacing JR3)

    Like that (without considering rims)

I didnt't decide the second part yet... Body kit? Repainting? I don't know!

    New coils from Ebay.

The car has no radiator... I think was lost in the jungle! So... New and bigger radiator!

I bought a new exhaust, the old was rusty and too little for stage 3.

After the radiator I installed the IC.

    First test of IC

    And pipes

    Seemed good.

    Conveyor up

After some problems, the car started. The walbro fuel pump wasn't ok and I bought an AEM 320 l/h.

    Battery up

The exhaust manifold after the first accension!

    The girl was hungry!

After that I decided to brought her home, but without the front bumper because of the IC.

At home I adjusted the bumper to fit with IC, but with poor results.

Take home the car wasn't a good idea because she had carburation problems and I had to bring her back to the garage. It was june, the moment when all problems started... The car was simply too rich, but nobody knew why... The ecu was ok, the z32 MAF too. Maybe 444 injectors? I bought an AEM fuel pressure regulator but without any result.

In the meantime I fixed the IC and the pipes.

    Bumper on!

In the next post I will end the story.

Hi guys, here at the (for now) end of the story.

The mixture was too rich, flames, black smoke and incandescent manifold.

After 3 months of different tests, finally we found the problem in the wiring, probably in the connectors. Now the car is ok, I have to do insurance and complete the running in.

Finally she is at home. I hope to post news soon!

Onestly I don't know exaclty what was the problem, I bought the car with the engine opened on the ground. I think that an overheating causes the break of cylinder head gasket and a electric problem causes a moment of lean mixture that damages piston rings. Also the turbo was broken.
